FINALLY...A real substitute for PayPal (FREE $20 for signing up)

I knew that some company would finally step up to the plate. Green Zap was launched on June 1st, accepts adult oriented payments and even has lower fees than PayPal! I just signed up and got $20 in my account. You DON'T need to give your bank info to sign up like you did with PayPal either. You guys really need to check this out right now.

A better way to send cash! Get $20 just for signing up!

Here is the press release:

NEW ONLINE PAYMENT PROVIDER, GREENZAP, OPENS WEBSITE TO PUBLIC

La Jolla, California, June 1, 2005 ? GreenZap, Inc., a new consumer-based, online payment provider, opened its website doors today welcoming nearly 200,000 pre-registered members to explore the GreenZap website and begin using its services. GreenZap began accepting account pre-registrations on April 2, 2005.

Users of GreenZap can send and receive money online globally using email. GreenZap is similar to eBay?s® payment processor PayPal®, but touts lower transactions fees and superior customer service. GreenZap also unveils today its interactive, community tracking system, the ZapMap. The ZapMap enables users to dynamically view their friends and family that have opened accounts. According to GreenZap?s President Alex Sonkin, ?the multi-dimensional ZapMap technology allows our members to interactively search and view the community they are transacting with. ZapMap is the eyes and ears of our community. By its mere existence, transactions conducted by individuals will be more secure and less susceptible to fraud because everyone can see their community. It?s like the Kevin Bacon 6-degress of separation phenomenon ? everyone will know someone, who knows someone else.?

GreenZap rewards account holders for telling their friends and family about GreenZap. Account holders are rewarded anywhere from $5 to $30 and receive their earnings as a combination of cash and WebCash. GreenZap?s WebCash can be used virtually anywhere online to purchase goods and services from hundreds of retail outlets offering thousands of brand names. From hotels, restaurants and travel to toys, electronics and attire.

?WebCash can be used to pay for GreenZap transactions fees, used to send to anyone with an email address, or used at GreenZap Storez to purchase goods and services from GreenZap?s global network of preferred merchants,? says Sonkin. ?The only difference between cash and WebCash is that WebCash can only be used, as the name says, on the web.?

GreenZap launched its pre-registration website and marketing campaign on April 2, 2005, and within one week GreenZap was attracting over 3,000 pre-registrants each day. GreenZap anticipates capturing a large percentage of the existing online spending community, but sees its brand and messaging appealing to a new generation of online spenders. ?The GreenZap brand is young, hip, and fun, but the site maintains a clean, professional design given the financial aspect of the products and services being offered,? said one of GreenZap?s brand managers.

GreenZap offers two types of accounts, a basic GreenZap account and an upgraded Gold account. The Gold account offers reduced transaction fees, increased rewards, and a GreenZap Stored Value MasterCard® or Visa® for off-line spending.

Their fees are really low. And it is super easy to open an account. I have tried getting an ePassporte account twice in the last 12 months...what a huge pain in the ass!

I signed up for an account yesterday and had $25 in my account within 5 minutes. That $25 bucks can be spent at Ebay, Amazon.com, NetFlix, Target.com, Hotwire.com and any of the hundreds of other online merchants already using them. Does Amazon or Netflix take PayPal? This isn't a flash in the pan company, I think that they will replace PayPal.

Where do you think those $25 comes from?? yes you are right - the Fees.. If the fees are so high, they can afford to give $25 away, is it then a good deal?

At least all epassporte members have verified CC info on file. With this, it seems that any fucktard could sign up, and possibly get you hit with a chargeback.

Besides, the fees have to be astronomical to finance this promotion and still pay all costs.

There is NO FEE to sign up. Once they have a few million members they will no doubt drop their sign-up bonus to $5 just like PayPal did after a month or so. This was just launched last week so if you want the big sign up bonus you will need to get in early. If you don't want the free money that's fine too.

Well, you DO get $20 in webcash for each person that signs up under you. I just checked my account and since I have posted this thread I now have $145 in my account. I think I'll be shopping for a new iPod tonight.

Okay, so I read through the forum that you found. There is nothing on there that proves that Green Zap is a scam, just that they are suspicious of it because they are giving away so much free money. When you sign up, you will find that the $25 is actually webcash that can only be spent at online merchants that use their service. However, I just can't see the likes of Target.com and Amazon.com partnering with a firm that is shady in any way. Oh well, I'll let you all know later what I buy with my money.

Oh yeah, I would post a list of all of the sites calling out PayPal but the list would be WAY too long!

On their site it says that these online merchants will start opening their doors to Green Zap customers in the summer of 2005. Yes, this company is still in their infancy. So you sign up and get $25 in free webcash. You put up a few links and pull in another few hundred dollars. Worse case scenario is that the company doesn't pan out and you don't get to spend that money. They don't have your SS number, bank info or CC numbers so what is there to lose?

I don't know how they plan on making back the money they are giving away. They gave out dozens of free $200 accounts at the SD Riptide game a couple of weeks ago. I wish them luck. They are headquartered in my backyard.

So what are you going to do to attract the MILLIONS of people you will need to make your service successful? You're going to have to give people something to sign up. PayPal gave people $15 to sign up when they first opened for business. I'm curious as to what your angle is going to be.

Does this "alternative" involve people converting their currency into "pirate's booty"?

YARGH! LOL.

My service is identical to paypal in everyway, including ACH so you can withdraw money directly to your bank, or by atm with a debit card. Another key feature will be you can move money from your account with my service to paypal or epassporte, and vice versa. The only thing that is different between, my solution, and paypal, is I will accept adult, and will not freeze accounts on a whim.

Again, it's beta testing now. It will most likely launch within 2 weeks.

If you send 50 referrals at 25$ a pop , you lose 1250$ , which part you dont understand in that?

I made a shitpile promoting paypal when it came out. They were backed by millions of dollars.

some research on greenzap

GreenZap is another facet of Damon Westmoreland?s Mazumah.biz, a known MLM operation.
http://www.mazumah.biz

Linda Murphy is Mazumah?s VP of Marketing and is also involved with many of Damon Westmoreland?s other "get rich quick"-type businesses. She registered GreenZap with San Diego California?s Fictitious Business Names on March 10, 2005:

FTC BUSTS TELECOM PYRAMID SCAMS!
Washington, D.C., Nov. 18, 1996 (DLD Digest) ? In a massive crackdown that is the broadest federal-state coordinated effort of its type, the Federal Trade Commission and enforcement officials from 25 states last Friday announced that they have taken more than 75 law enforcement actions so far against get-rich-quick self-employment schemes, including work-at-home scams, pyramid schemes often pitched on the Internet, and pre-packaged small businesses involving everything from vending machine frauds to sophisticated medical billing services.

The actions are the result of "Operation Missed Fortune," launched early last summer. This federal/state effort targets scam artists who capitalize on downsizing, the growth of computers in consumers? homes and other trends by promising people "proven" and "lucrative" opportunities to gain financial independence and to "be your own boss." The firms charge up-front fees ranging from $30 to tens of thousands of dollars. Officials said the fraudulent companies make false promises about high earnings, sometimes refer consumers to phony references or "shills" who give glowing, but false, reports about the business, and frequently fail to provide consumers with detailed business disclosure documents required by federal or state law. The FTC staff estimated that consumers lose tens of millions of dollars to get-rich-quick business scams every year. Officials will be filing more actions as part of this project in the coming weeks.
