I've been divorced for about 1 1/2 yrs now and still can't bring myself to date anyone...I was married for 7 yrs and it just doesn't seem right. I get asked out all the time and refuse. I've had my share of one nighters but then I never get with them again. Any suggestions?

I was married and had a son with my ex-wife. We met in '87. I don't think its possible to get over someone you divorce but have a kid with since you continue to interact virtually every day until your kid grows up and gets his own life going.

So yeh it sucks and dating when you are older sucks. Very hard to find someone special again.

After a while you get so burned out with the whole dating scene you just kick back and say fuck it when the next relationship is meant to be it will find me.

Its fun being single once you get used to it and stop feeling like your missing something.

that's a tough one, man. I just separated in Feb and am filing for divorce next month. I have three kids, two of whom are with my ex. It's a lot harder to get out when you have little ones, and you don't want to bring people over when you are just getting to know them and have no idea if it is going anywhere, or what type of person they are.

well of course you don't want a bunch of women in and out of your home, just keep your personal life seperate from your home life. If any female can't understand that, then she isn't worth your time anyway.

As far as dating goes, if you aren't ready to get involved then don't, there is no law that says you only have a certain amount of time to get over what you went through. Do whats best for you, if that means having 1 night stands so be it, do it and don't feel bad about it. (I know it's strange to hear a woman say that), but seriously as long as you aren't leading a female on do what you need to do. When you're ready and your daughters are in a better frame of mind you may move beyond 1 night stands, and into something more fullfilling.
