I have some Advent 900Mhz speakers I've had many years now, and to be honest I don't think they make them any more
![]() Putting EIGHT "C" batteries in them allows me to take them up to 300' feet away from the receiver - even to the neighbour's house when we BBQ/drink on their deck. the batteries get used OFTEN, and they usually last me almost 2 full summers before needing replaced! While only 15 watts/ch RMS, don't be fooled by the sound reproduction quality of these little powerhouses ... very good bass response, and yes they are loud enough to EASILY drown out 12-15 backyard drunks! I LOVE THEM !!! http://www.smarthome.com/8243.html (... and no I DON'T WORK for Advent/Recticon ) ![]() |

if you will use it for surround sound and home theatre: they lose hella fidelity.. dont be a lazy bastard, get the wires run thru the walls/celings... don't even skimp on the wires, make sure to get Monsters or comparable quality... dont buy any cheap name brand speakers either... if you're gonna spend a few grand on your home theater do it right.... dont hahahahahaha-rig it with wireless speakers

![]() Since the human ear only hears a maximum of 20-20'000 Hz (with most people's range closer to 23-17'500), this claim is kinda unfounded. If you need my credentials, I owned a high-end retail audio store for 6 years, selling Harmon Kardon, B & O, Nakamichi, and Yamaha. |

Many uneducated consumers needlessly spend hundreds, or even THOUSANDS of dollars on speakers capable of 50K or better, or else are of the belief that the center and/or rear channels in a Dolby Pro Logic, or 5.1-7.1 system need to have anywhere near the same output power or range as the main left and right channels.
Lucasfilm/THX Labratories is probably the MOST highly regarded authority on Home Theater, and during the $2000 Home Theater workshop/training course I attended put on by the ablove mentioned, they blatently stated that having OVERPOWERED rear, side, or center channels is the most common mistake home theater owners make when setting up their systems ... these extra channels are meant for "ambient" sound only. |

Funny that someone mentioned Monster cables.
Bullocks.. Monster is no better than any other good brand of cables. Speaker wire is just speaker wire. Stick to 14 AWG wire and there is NO difference between Monster and even cheap lamp cord. Even their RCA interconnects are just over priced hype. Same goes for their car audio gear. I know this for a fact. I actually priced the interconnects ends and same spec wire they use.. Were talking major difference in price here. How about a 900% markup? Guys, stay away from monster, just get run of the mill quality grade cabling with gold plating and there is NO difference. An example for car audio. Their 1.5 microfarad stiffening capacitor runs around $300 here. The same one, rebranded at walmart goes for $100. Think about that ![]() |

Get yourself a few sets of Paradigm or likeminded mini bookshelves for home theater use. You'll find they have an even response. Also, if those wireless speakers claim 20-20,000 you do realize it's an exageration right? No speaker of that size can reproduce all thsoe frequencies. None. |

Bottom line is (like anything - cars, houses, whatever ...), if YOU are happy with your purchase, this is what matters. The original poster was looking for opinions on wireless speakers, not to be sold on in wall or high end bookshelf speakers. To rebute your claim that monster cable is bollocks: While the specific brand name of wire is irrelevant and a matter of personal choice, MONSTER CABLES being the best branded, a larger diameter wire (lower gauge number) will transmit a much better signal, and having gold (non oxidizing) contacts will keep your signal from deterring when the exposed ends of the speaker wires oxidize over time. Anybody who has ever owned a pair of Cerwins or Boston Accoustics and who has upgraded from standard 14 guage speaker wire to a 10 or even 8 guage, will tell you that the sound quality (esp. the bass response) was instantly apparent! |
