Can anyone help with this:
I got a domain and want to point the MX record to my PC @ home, do I have to open port 53 that is used for DNS?

if you don't know what you're doing, i suggest letting someone else set it up for you... last thing you wanna do is run a service off of your computer if you don't know how to do it properly and safely..

You want the mail for a domain send to your home PC? I guess you have a mailserver running on your home pc then? If this is what you want, the only thing you have to do is change the MX record to your home pc and make sure a mailserver is running. In that case, what is the port 53 question about? What has the DNS server to do with that the mail gets directed to your machine? Be a little clearer in what it is that you want and then may be we can help you.

ugh
ok, make an A (address) record to the ip address of your machine at home, now point the MX record to that record. Hope that your mailserver does not require reverse dns, but probably your machine will have it just not one you can change like 30.66.56.98-ADSL.pacbell yadda yadda yadda. dns is not required at home. if you are behind a firewall open the ports, 25 and 110 if the reverse ip is not happening you will have to open the port for dns also. hope that helps.
