Can you fucking believe this...my first tattoo went wrong

So its almost a month now and it has these little spots where the ink dissapeared...looks like there are little holes in my tattoo...looks ridiculous.

Now, it will take 3 weeks before that guy gets back and before they want to fix it (its not completely healed).

So thats 7 weeks with a fucked up tat. Then it will take another month to heal again. By then its fucking midsummer. Im already walking around in a tshirt right now.

Fuck this blows.

I dont know anybody who had this. I get my first one and it goes wrong.

Seriously though, I would never get ink on my body, for the sole reason of fearing that the artist might have a bad day.

I have a friend who owns 2 shops here in georgia and alot of times it depends on your skin. sometimes ink wont hold perfectly the first time and of course every tattoo needs touchups. Sometimes more than others. If a tattoo is not perfect after healing up the first time its a common thing. As you heal your skin can actually expel some of the color causing fade and dull spots. It's normal.

did you follow general tattoo care instructions? Sounds like you had it bubble from being to moist and the ink scabbed and flaked off there, I had a card from tattoo shop on what to put on your tattoo to make sure it doesnt get to moist etc.. that or he sucks and didnt put the ink deep enough and just the normal healing drew it to the surface :\

This is what it looked like 15 mins after it was done.

Now it looks the same with white (skin) spots in it.

Sorry but that's total bollocks. It's a very long way from being 'normal'. The problem is one of two things - either he's picked the scabs or the needle didn't go deep enough. A good, experienced artist will get the ink deep enough nearly every time. Of course the trick is to then not go too deep so that the colour starts to spread, but again that comes down to experience. A good artist will have that experience and very, very rarely have the problem of patchy colour or lines.

Remind me not to use your friend who owns two shops. In the 5 years I spent both working in a tattoo shop and tattooing people myself I can count the amount that needed a tattoo touching up afterwards on one hand, from the thousands done.

not saying scratched it, I remember tattooist telling me if it gets to moist from lotions and stuff it will bubble and the bubbles will pull the ink from the skin pores and it will cause the no inked spots

dont go back to the same guy to touch it up bro, go to another guy that has a nice portfolio picture book of his work, shouldnt cost much to get it reinked because it wont take long, Most likely the guy is a good artist but doesnt know how to tattoo just perfect yet, Because if the tattooist is good you will not have to get it touched up for years to come and thats only for fading

Ahh its the black that got spotted? Black is one of the most painful colors to get because they have to put it on sooooo fucking thick to make it look good.. like getting a arm band done in black they have to go over and over until its total black.

I have a very similar thing on the dice on my Left arm .... in my case the black dots and some of the black shadow came out ... on both these spots it seems the artist went too deep with the ink and went over it to much ... the spots looked like chop meat and hurt more them any other tats i have .. when healing i think my body just pushed out the ink ... if your in Canada for the show I'll show ya ..... no big deal ..i had it done in Vegas instead of my regular guy ... next time i get work done he'll just touch it up ..

BTW a quick tip - shrink wrap/cling film over a new tattoo for around 48 hours will stop it scabbing too much and keep the colours vibrant. BUT - a small number of people will have a reaction to the cling film so keep an eye on it.

I am not saying it happens all the time. I did not make my point clearly enough. I am saying fading in darker areas of a tattoo after healing is not that rare of a thing. Often times if a tattoo has intricate shading it will need at least 1 touchup after the first healing phase and is nothing to panic about.

The spots where the ink is missing are commonly referred to as "holidays" A euphemsim for the artist being on holiday while they were tattooing that spot on you. With black work they are not uncommon and are easy to fix.

Lotsa reasons you might have got them. Could be how the artist put the ink in, could be you used to much moisturizer during the beginning of the healing process etc... Bottom line is once you have healed, get them fillied in and find someone you trust do do any future tattoos.

Check out www.tattoos.com for a listing of studios by location and you can check out their site or online portfolios before you ever leave your desk.

Thanks.

How long does my tat have to heal before they can work on it again?

its been almost a month now.

Mind you its something small, just a few small spots, shouldnt be more than 2 mins work.

How quickly you heal varies from person to person and even where the tattoo is on your body.

I had a couple of hours put into the upper sleeve on my left arm a week ago and I am 60-70% healed.

I had the back of my right leg tattood a couple of years ago and it took months to fully heal.

everyone that gets a lot of tattoos has their own method to promote quicker healing. what works for me might not work for someone else.

At this point you should not be putting much moistureizer on you tattoo as it does not allow the skin to breath enough to fully heal.

and just for shits and giggles here is a pic of my legs.
