Mac OSX Tiger = Mac Mail Problems - GoFuckYourself.com

Make sure you back up all of your email before upgrading to Tiger. For whatever reason my 15" PB freaked out during the upgrade. I had tons of duplicate fonts that really fuck things up, Safari will not load, and all of my mailboxes made it through the upgrade, but they were all empty. My Mbox files are still there, but it looks like I have to manually import each one. What a freaking hassle! Doesn't anybody test this shit before it is released. This problem occured using the built in mac mail program, not with MS entourage. Thanks Apple, for adding a little drama to my weekend.

Sorry to hear that but thanks for the heads up bud, I was about to do my upgrade this weekend, I think I'll hold off a bit

Just drag the folders out of Mail and then in after the upgrade/clean install. I always do a clean install when a big OS update comes around.

I had the mail problem on two computers. One of them didn't have any problems at all. After the install I simply moved the mail folder (found in the user folder -> Library) to the desktop. Then under the user folder -> Library -> preferences folder I had to move com.apple.mail.plist and com.apple.internetconfig.plist to the trash. Then re-opened mail and set it up fresh. Then imported files from the mail folder that I moved from the desktop.

Then you have to reorganize your mail how you want it, unfortunately.

It was a pain, but it only took 5 minutes to do it all. I was annoyed about it too.

its something people have to learn especially if your upgrading or installing a new system.
wait for 2 months before you try them out, check out forum sites of the software and learn about some issues of its early releases, bugs, fixes. be patient unless you wanted to crash your system the easy way.

I always wait a few weeks before installing major upgrades and I always back up my hard drive first.
