Bin Laden

So what is the deal with him?

I can't believe he has evaded capture for this long..

If he owed money to the IRS they would have found him by now

George Bush doesn't have to think about him. We should have plenty of people to do that for him.

We have all these CIA, NSA, Military special forces and we can't find a 6'3 Arab.

Yes, He was even offered to U.S., but the president at the time wouldn't accept him.

Keep in mind this was after the first tower atttacks and not the 2001 attacks. When Clinton let him go, he was able to plan the 9/11 attacks.

The Bin Laden family are really close friends of the Bush family. Also, remember that the Bin Laden family got a free-pass out of the country in their private jet before the FBI could interview them after 9-11 when all air traffic was grounded courtesy of the White House. Bush is a punk-ass.

Do you ever stop fabricating shit? Get your fucking facts straight before posting this Rush Limbaugh bullshit.

Here's the way it happened:

The government of Sudan, using a back channel direct from its president to the Central Intelligence Agency in the United States, offered in the early spring of 1996 to arrest Osama bin Laden and place him in custody in Saudi Arabia, according to officials and former officials in all three countries.

The Clinton administration struggled to find a way to accept the offer in secret contacts that stretched from a meeting at hotel in Arlington, Virginia, on March 3, 1996, to a fax that closed the door on the effort 10 weeks later.

Unable to persuade the Saudis to accept Mr. bin Laden, and lacking a case to indict him in U.S. courts, the Clinton administration finally gave up on the capture. ...

Resigned to Mr. bin Laden's departure from Sudan, some officials raised the possibility of shooting down his chartered aircraft, but the idea was never seriously pursued because Mr. bin Laden had not been linked to a dead American, and it was inconceivable that Mr. Clinton would sign the "lethal finding" necessary under the circumstances.

In short, Sudan claimed that it would arrest Osama and extradite him to another country, though the veracity of that offer has never been confirmed, and was doubted by many. But the Clinton administration tried to achieve this. However, the U.S. itself could not take him because at that time (and this is what the right-wing hatchet stories usually leave out), bin Laden had not been connected with any U.S. deaths, and the U.S. did not have any jurisdiction to try him. So they tried to convince the Saudis to take him, but the Saudis refused. To suggest that Clinton had the ability to nab bin Laden but decided not to goes contrary to Clinton's 10-week effort to get bin Laden put in a Saudi jail and possibly executed there. The deal was simply unworkable, pure and simple.

Suck on this:

"Mr. Bin Laden used to live in Sudan ... And we?d been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start meeting with them again. They released him. At the time, '96, he had committed no crime against America so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America."

Shortly after taking office, President George W. Bush ordered a new, more muscular policy to eliminate al-Qaida. Helping draft that policy: Roger Cressey, a terrorism expert in both Democratic and Republican administrations and now an NBC News analyst.

Now Cressey is speaking out for the first time. He says in the early days of the Bush administration, al-Qaida simply was not a top priority, ?There was not this sense of urgency. The ticking clock, if you will, to get it done sooner rather than later.?

That spring, President Bush learned bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the USS Cole, which killed 17 sailors. Why was there no retaliation?

?You would think after an attack that almost sank a U.S. destroyer there would have been [a mandate] for some type of action. Yet we never saw that from the Pentagon,? Cressey answered.

Bush administration national security adviser Condoleezza Rice insists that President Bush wanted to avenge the Cole, but not with a pinprick retaliatory strike, ?We were concerned that we didn?t have good military options. That really all we had were options like using cruise missiles to go after training camps that had long since been abandoned.?

NBC?s sources say that the camps in Afghanistan were thriving, that the United States could have hit the camps and killed lots of terrorists.

Yup, I don't generally see a lot of comment about this quote that was made on the 6 month aniversary of 9/11.

Funny that.

Oh ya and the Taliban offered to turn bin Laden into an international court if any proof of his involvement in 9/11 was offered. No proof was ever given... I can't believe those Muslim heathens would actually demand that proof be offered!

I wonder what the answer would be if another country demanded the Bush administration (or Clinton administration) hand over lets say, Bill Gates, because of anti-trust violations to an international court with absolutely no proof offered? The idea of handing over one of your citizens to a court outside of your jurisdiction with no proof of guilt given would seem ridiculous no?

edit: spelling

Dont worry. Bush will announce the capture of Bin Laden, in the same address as when he states that he has changed to constitution and is allowing himself to stay in office.

From day one, Bush focus was on Iraq...

9/11 and Bin Laden were God's gift to him.

Bin Laden is the Boogey Man.
He could have been grabbed with good cause many years ago but politics gave him as good of protection as any "witness protected". Now he's a convenient reason the powers that be change shit.

Clinton could have got Bin Laden if he really wanted. I'm sure he liked him free just like Bush does now. He's a great illusionary threat.

Bin Laden did not plan 9/11. All his FBI wanted posters are for murdering U.S. citizens outside the United States. Khalid Sheik Mohammed was the mastermind. His nephew is Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind of the 1993 WTC attack. Both are now in custody and are originally from Pakistan.

No one knows their true identity, yet they are definitely state sponsored probably through Pakistan's ISI which created the Taliban and Al Qaeda or Iraqi Intelligence. When Yousef entered the country his partner was arrested with a 'terrorist kit' (which the police gave back to Yousef) and was alleged to be an informant for Israeli Intelligence.

The first place Yousef goes is an American Iraqi's apartment who has an unlisted phone number in an apparently real female Israeli's name. This is the number the 'clueless terrorist' listed on the Ryder truck, which the FBI used to track down the apartment. The FBI released the Iraqis and Yousef escaped.

Although the first plot started as a failed sting operation with the bomb being built by an FBI informant who was also an Egyptian Intelligence officer, way before Ramzi Yousef entered the plot. Plus the CIA admitted to originally training nearly all the individuals involved as Mujahideen fighters and of course they've worked closely with the Pakistani ISI. Clearly the true conspiracy is obsfucated, but even former CIA Director James Woolsey says there was a government coverup (in 1993 and 1995).

Sounds like the king of the flip-flops

"Uhh -- Gosh, I -- don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those, uhh, exaggerations." GW -- Tempe, AZ, October 13, 2004, (in contrast to the statement at his press conference, March 13, 2002: "I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.")

Fuck you! Do you think it's EASY trying to find and capture a 6' 8" guy who is hooked up to a dialysis machine and is wandering in the desert?

I find you right wing fundies HYSTERICAL!

"when Clinton let him go"..yep..that's right, had him in a federal pen and Clinton thought to himself "He seems like a nice guy and probably means well.." so he released him from prison and sent him off on a private jet to his comfortable home in Afghanistan.

See..I can come up with great fiction TOO!!

At least Clinton had the BALLS to try and KILL him back in 97 when they fired cruise missles at his camp that missed him by 2 hours! Bush called off the troops in Afghanistan when they had Bin Laden & his cohorts surrounded in Tora Bora because he needed them for the BIGGER "evil" in Iraq!

Very good point. As long as Bin Laden is free, Bush & the neo-cons can play on American's fears and continue to push his agenda down our throats.

Hey FunForOne, why do you have so many different nicks?

Or is it a coincidence that these fairly new nicks (with low post counts)always seem to agree with you and happen to post in threads where you are outnumbered by people who disagree with you?

You claim to be a highly educated man but you only seem to be able to see in black and white (ie: Everything Republicans do is good and everything Democrats do is bad; so if you don't agree with Republicans then you are bad/Democrats). Most of your posts spew the same thing over and over again (when it comes to US politics) and you don't have the ability to keep an open mind. Whenever someone disagrees with you; you resort to name-calling. A lot of the things you say are parroted from Rush's site and Fox News(Do you actually think that FoxNews or Rush is Fair and Balanced???)
