Licencing fees for using music in videos - GoFuckYourself.com

We are looking at using music (background with voiceovers) in some videos on the site, and are trying to determine info on licencing.

As our servers are US based, we think we need a Non-Interactive 5.0 license agreement from ASCAP.com (http://www.ascap.com/weblicense/webfaq.html) but the info is pretty vague, especially on fees.

Anyone got any suggestions or ideas or comments?

It's next to impossible to do it legally. If you want to perform & record your own version of a song, the ASCAP license is all you need. If you want to use a song that the actual band performed, you need a license from the copyright holder which is usually the record label. Independent filmmakers have to pay thousands of dollars to get a song into their movies.

You'll have better luck trying to find local bands who are willing to sign a limited release in exchange for links back to their websites & so on. Or do a search for "royalty free" music - stuff written explicitly for internet use, sort of like clip art.
