Are you being sent to a .org site?
The genius that owns com.org has thousands of subdomains that will take you to their search page if your DNS is timing out. Is this the search page you are seeing? http://foxnews.com.org If not, go with brizzad's call

When I do a search from the search function in firefox I get the normal results page.

But when I search in the "new" google I get this results page: http://www.google.dk/xhtml?q=gfy&hl=...ng&site=search

I think this is the search utility for PDA's. Clear your cookies and restart your browser.
