search for something to see what results you get then copy and paste one

mardigras 04-12-2005 10:52 PM

Are you being sent to a .org site?
The genius that owns com.org has thousands of subdomains that will take you to their search page if your DNS is timing out. Is this the search page you are seeing? http://foxnews.com.org If not, go with brizzad's call :thumbsup

n00b, I've been a fan of NS/mozilla since the late 90s...using mozilla 1.7.5 now

also tried this in firefox, same issue, tried on another box & ISP entirely, same issue...

searched for 'porn' and got this:

http://www.google.com/xhtml?q=porn&h...&site=sear ch

Michael O 04-12-2005 10:54 PM

When I do a search from the search function in firefox I get the normal results page.

But when I search in the "new" google I get this results page: http://www.google.dk/xhtml?q=gfy&hl=...ng&site=search

Never happened to me before I clicked the link you posted. the google.com/xhtml so its probably a settings problem.

Big Ray 04-12-2005 10:55 PM

I think this is the search utility for PDA's. Clear your cookies and restart your browser.

Michael O 04-12-2005 10:57 PM

Yep delete cookies and it returns to normal.

its cos you clicked on a link for the mobile version of google and it set a cookie to remember that. probably you clicked on the same one for the mobile version of google local that got launched today or recently, same thing that happened to me.
