I stopped smoking again..

Well I did it, before I went to the internext party of june of last year.. I had quit a year and a half till I got there..

I kept bumming smokes off Joe and Mike from Gib..Before you know it I was buying my own packs with the Mentality of quitting when I got home(Yeah Right) My wife was so upset when she found out cause in 18 years of smoking that was the best I have done as far as quitting.. Well that was 6 mos ago.. I'm gonna fight this, but going to vegas is like Torture..

I basically tried alot of things like Nicorette gum ,and you know what!! It didnt work for me.. I basically played a mind game with myself telliing myself I was a weak ass and a wussy... IT WORKED..So if any of you have made a resolution to quit, talk to yourself about what a damm weak ass you are and it may do the trick..

Good Luck Steve

My wife & I both decided we should quit smoking last night...
My last smoke was at 3am this morning!!

I am going fucking nuts...My eyes got some odd feeling, my nerves are frayed, I've been eating twice as much..& coffee's not the same without a smoke??

Well, tommorow, when I wake up..(If I'm not up all night) It'll be easier to resist the urge....
We're exited about the money we'll save..
we've been spending $14.75 a day on smokes..
It adds up..
Our children & our health were the motivating factors in deciding to quit..
I'm tired of coughing up clams...& I don't want my daughters breathing second hand smoke..
I just hope my wife & I are'nt irritable as a result..today there's been alot of bitchin..

Smoking leads to death, slowly but steadily. Cigarette industries dont differ a lot from drug dealers. In my eyes they're almost the same. Thumbs up to the custom goverments that are influenced from these empires. Money can buy anything and influence anything. Smoking=personal freedom

I quit smoking crack for the new year. It got to the point where I was bumming rock off my buddies, then I was sending my girlfriend down to the bus station to give hand jobs for pocket change.

Well I'm all cleaned up now and that demon smoke is behind me. I've been clean for six hours now, wish me luck!

Talk about painful memories. That's exactly how my dad looked by in '78 when he died at the age of 44 leaving behind 5 kids (the youngest was 3)and a wife. My sister has absolutely no memory of our dad at all. His was lung cancer caused by smoking which caused 4 brain tumors before it was discovered. He was a fighter though. He lived 18 months before dying a very painful death.

Oh my god, I have been so freaked out today. This is the second time in 30 days that I have quit smoking. I quit for a few weeks and then I went to a Christmas party...then a New Years' Party...and today is my first day back on the patch...I used them in the summer of 1999 too...I just don't expect much too fast. I have been smoking for 15 years, that is over half of my life. It took me years to cultivate these habits, it will probably take longer to sufficently change them. Good Luck to everyone!
Also, just get a really tiny pipe and smoke a little ganja whenever you feel like you just can't stand it anymore. I helps to just hold it too.

GoddessLark -

Sounds like you are following your own advice :o)

It does get better with time!!!

Maybe you could try and trade that pipe for something else in your hand. Like a pen or pencil.

The patches are over the counter and about $25-$40 for a one-two week supply of step one or two, I think the gum costs the same, the gum tastes like hell and makes me gag but the patch is making me have other problems. (I have epilepsy) It would probably do nothing bad to you. Almost all of the options are available free if you just find some site on the internet. Gov't and schools(Post-secondary) do that. There is one called "Free and Clear", I think. I haven't looked yet. They mail you a cupon for x-amount...good luck...

Just a stop smoking tip...the Zyban (generic name is Wellbutirin SR) really, really worked for me. I've smoked a pack-and-a-half a day for 11 years, and it made it quite easy to stop. I made it for 4 months, and them dumbshit me decided to take a gig in a bar...lasted about 1 hour after I started playing music. The trick is, they only work well ONCE. If you start again, the pills work no better than the patch or gum on the second quitting attempt. I'd tell you more, but I gotta go get a smoke.

I already have the laptop in front of me, and the mouse in my right hand. isn't that enough. go to my homepage, some of my fiction is there. I'm already ahead of you. I can't even see you anymore...why do people always have to talk about what you need to do next?

I quit smoking about 2 months ago.
Still get stressy at some moments and after a beer or after dinner I still want a cig! And I gained about 6pounds I think.
