Let me modify my statement too, we prepay based on history and past performance.

This guy tried to take us a while back. I talked to him on the phone and ICQ many times. We didn't pay him because it didn't add up. Everything seemed legit, he also provided us with references that seemed genuine, but because we are also in FL, and this guy was being so shady and was only on the other side of the state, we told him to kick rocks.
I didn't know for a fact the guy was a scam artist until I read your post this morning, Rick. Very sorry to hear about this loss and sorry to hear he took other people in the industry as well. It's funny you should mention australia, one of his ICQ references he provided to us also talked of australia.
I'll check around my office today and see if I still have anything from this guy.. If I find anything I'll hit you up.

Get this. The FBI is telling me that it may not be a crime. We bought something and he didn't deliver so it's civil. How fucked up is that? As for faking Greg's identity, they are saying that they didn't steal his real identity, just saying that your name is the same as someone else's isn't a crime.

Clearly the guy preyed on an industry that probably wouldn't call the FBI, appealed to their greed and took money from them. If that isn't a con job I don't know what is.

Anyway, they said it may or may not be criminal. My fingers are crossed.
