The problem of GFY, for big programs, like PussyCash. Is the fact that about 90% of the threads are about Paris Hilton and other shit, and not about real webmasters business. Well thats when you buy a banner. This way if you have an announcement you email Eric and he will make your thread a sticky thread so it stays right on top. And if you already have a banner then duh....

The contest threads hurt the board just as if not more then the other shit.

Well I really don't care about them if you think about it for some people it's a great way of getting a little $$ for the day. I won $50 one day but then I got disqualified cuz I made a few post in a row, oh well but I'm not going to say it wouldn't have been bad to have won $50.

Well, that's a good point, but Eric will stick it for only 2 hours, and it will take much more then that to get all of GFY webmasters to see our announcement

Well I will tell you one thing... Coming from someone who has been on this board since 2001... I do not even read your announcements. When I see a new pussycash thread I skip right over it.

That is how most of these contest threads are starting to be viewed. To me they look like garbled up bullshit. When the thread title is long and there is over 12 pages of shit I dont even read the thread title.

IMO you are hurting the board... How many announcements must one make?

i think it would be wise if GFY impose much stricter rules on such posts, reaching 6,000 post to win a thread is very tiring to see once in a while. im not saying the contest is bad but id say it would be more enjoyable to join such thread if they enfore much realistic goals.

Indeed... I skip them too. I don't even check. Like I said in my other thread, they're misleading anyway. The thread title says "Win $10,000 in this thread" when infact you can win what.. $150 and an Ipod?

Truth is, it was a great idea at first... someone was really very clever. But like any good thing... it can be over used and abused and ruined.

It's too much now. There's 7 or 8 contest threads on the front page at any one time. And the fact is that you're no longer advertising to anyone who'll promote you, you're advertising to bottom feeders who have 18 hours a day to sit and post in that thread.

No, I agree... in a perfect GFY world, people would read the business threads and not the useless ones... it's a great way to draw attention and like I said, back in the day, it was very smart.

But now it's just way to abused to be worthwhile to the rest of us.

Why not pay a bit extra and get your announcement stickied for longer?

I wouldn't be surprised if, in future, programs have to pay for a skinning before running a "major contest promotion". Would not surprise me at all.

Here's another idea.... why not spread your $10k around by choosing a few dozen regular posters (who aren't idiots or postwhores) and buy their sigs for a month? If you also bought a top banner spot then every one of those sigs could be a full sized banner too.

You'd make a lot of legit webmasters happy, and I bet you'd get a lot more signing up to your program.

We are doing that as well, but when you have 5 things to say in a 2 weeks period, you can't really ask 50 webmasters to change their sig every other day
