98% of the American public DONT KNOW the FACTS regarding the Terri Schiavo case!

it was proven in court YEARS AGO that Terri Shiavo DID NOT want to be on any type of life support - that means any medical assistance which prolongs or aides life, like breathing machines, feeding tubes, ect

This wasnt proven by the testimony of just her husband but by others that knew her ect.

i feel for the family but you have to RESPECT THE WISHES OF THE INDIVIUAL.

its NAUSEAITING to listen to and read comments based on IGNORANCE by people WHO DONT KNOW SHIT about the case on either side.

Her parents testified in the first trial that they would support taking off her limbs if that was what was needed to keep her alive. They also testified that if Terri somehow woke up and told them she wanted to die right now, they would go against her wishes.

I'm sorry, but they are sick people.

It bothers me that the religious people always talk about the sanctity of life.

They say it's not for us to decide who dies. It's up to god. God takes people in their own time - not ours.

So WTF?

Keeping her alive artificially, it would seem, is going against the will of god. You religious zealots can not have it both ways.

I understand making efforts to keep someone alive for a reasonable period of time, and through reasonable efforts. In my view, if the decision has been through the courts, through reasonable appeals, it should be done with and settled. This entire process is a farce.

The religious right has far too much power. This, I think, will be America's downfall, if there ever is a true downfall. Religion is turning people into bitter, hateful people. If this doesn't stop, we'll have our own Imams and religious police in a matter of decades.

I'm glad I got over the religious thing years ago. A presbyterian and lutheran upbringing is hard to shake

I think 99% of Americans would object to having their ex-wives and new husbands get to decide if they have a good enough life to continue to live with having medical evaluations.

The price of Life Insurance is skyrocket if mercy homicide becomes a everyday occurance.

I understand where you got your information but I just wanted to ask while you call it the "religious right"?

Half of the democrats voted to have the case reviewed. Are those republicans also?

exactly.

I also thinks its funny how many times the trash on this board have tried to make this a religious matter.

The so called husband has been trying to kill her since he started banging the new girlfriend.
The husband has forced her to live in this state by not trying to rehabilitate her and instead spent all his time trying to kill her.

From what I've seen, it's the religious fringe of the republican party that are driving things here. That other members of congress voted for a review is, in my mind, just a "feel good" measure. Their constituents can't really bitch about reviewing a case, and could get pissed if they simply dismissed the issue. So, I think they voted for review for the sake of appearance.

However, it's the religious elements that are pushing for federal law to bypass the courts. Therse religious elements exist in the republican party; in the far right of the republican party. Thus, the "religious right".

Trying to kill her or following out her wishes? If he wanted money, why wouldn't he take the 7 figure on the table to just walk away?

Your side keeps trying to demonize him but it's making you look more stupid by the second.

I read last week (In Newsweek?) that Terri's husband got $400k from the lawsuit, plus over a million put in trust for Terri that he was in charge of. According to the article all of that money is gone - all of it went to supporting Terri in the hospital (which I could imagine could be rather expensive). Seems to me like he's at the end of his rope and the money has dried up, and wants to move on with his life.

please educate yourself on the matter by reading court documents and statements terri's family has made in regards to her husband before making ill informed statements.

most people dont know the full story or have the facts regarding this case - and to make statements based on anything but the facts is bullshit, when the pertinent facts are so easily available to the public.

its NAUSEAITING to listen to and read IGNORANT comments made by people WHO DONT KNOW SHIT about the case.

Problem is, most people are idiots. They merely tell someone their wishes, which isn't enough obviously. People need to get off their lazy asses and get their lawyer to put their wishes in writing and add it to a legal will, so that their family members and the media and millions of armchair fucking quarterbacks aren't able to second-guess those wishes.

If only people weren't so stupid.

If...only.

Supposedly making a comment after a sappy movie, and then the husband not coming up with this story till years later, certainly isn't very strong 'wishes' no matter how you try and spin it.

Its not a perfect system. I saw a case on the peoples court a few weeks back. Guy and girl were going through a divorce. Guy got into an accident and went into a coma. The girl, who he was in the process of divorcing, locked the parents out of all the decision making.

Just because someone has the legal right to do something dosen't make it right. The law is imperfect.

What is stupid is people that are such political sheep that they have a bloodlust to see this girl dead and trying to protray the husband who has long since moved on to a new woman and kids, and an obvious sheister attorney as some kind of saints.

I see your point, but she's been in this state for nearly 16 years, and he waited how many years before "moving on"? I'm asking, I honestly don't know how much time passed before he took up with another woman.

How many years would you wait before trying to get on with parts of your life?

I suppose until one is actually IN such a situation it is difficult to say what one would or wouldn't do as far as waiting.

Of course 98% of people don't know the facts, they get their information from TV news. They tell you what they want you to think, it has nothing to do with the truth.

where exactly in the transcript does it say that

What you or I think doesn't matter. The courts have repeatedly upheld the decision over and over and over again.

i feel for the family but you have to RESPECT THE WISHES OF THE INDIVIUAL.

its NAUSEAITING to listen to and read comments based on IGNORANCE by people WHO DONT KNOW SHIT about the case on either side.
You state this as if you are 100% sure you know the ins and outs of the case.
Did you read the court transcripts? ALL OF THEM?
Now...regardless of whether or not she told people this I find it kind of scary that since there is no documented proof from the woman herself that our courts can decide this based on simple testimony.
I have a livin will, and always filed it anytime I have had surgery done or have been admitted to a hospital etc.
This just shows how important it is to consider things in advance no matter how old you are.

hasnt she been in a coma for like 15 years? I'm not speaking on facts, just shit I read from people on gfy LOL but if its true, I'd say after 15 years of being in a coma, if the guy has given up hope and wants to move on with his life, I dont blame him. Sometimes people say shit as though she just fell into a coma yesterday and buddy is trying to pull the plug 2 seconds later. She was 26 when she went into a coma, she is now 41! by anyones standards I would assume they have given it enough time. let her go already.

the courts can decide a lot of stuff

recently here on the news, they showed a family who's grandmother had a court appointed guardian with the right to decide and order her life around. and the family can't do a thing about it.

bad stuff
