You state this as if you are 100% sure you know the ins and outs of the case.
Did you read the court transcripts? ALL OF THEM?
Now...regardless of whether or not she told people this I find it kind of scary that since there is no documented proof from the woman herself that our courts can decide this based on simple testimony.
I have a livin will, and always filed it anytime I have had surgery done or have been admitted to a hospital etc.
This just shows how important it is to consider things in advance no matter how old you are.
