You're complaining about a cockatiel? Goddamn. Try having my bird. He's a lorikeet. An Australian parrot. Possibly the loudest fucking bird in this country. A cockatiel at it's loudest would be like heaven compared to the screech of a lori. The best think you can do is keep him away from the cats, give him heaps of toys to play with and give him regular attention. Also try get some tunes that he will try and copy. He'll spend all his time trying to imitate the tunes and won't even think about making any noise.

Thank you for that sugggestion. I am going to change his food and water at night. He screamed 4 times this morning and that was all. I changed his food and he was happy.

Did you say he stops when you cover the cage? If so, that might be a way to train him. When he screams, immediately cover the cage for a short period of time. Take the cover off and if he starts up again, re-cover the cage for another short period of time. Birds aren't stupid, he should learn pretty quickly that bad attention is not like good attention and that screaming gets him nowhere.

Just make sure you spend some time with him doing things that interest him as well, so he doesn't get to the point of feeling neglected by being covered up.

Actually, the bird waking her up was her own fault. I know one of my first posts on the topic of the bird told her to cover him at night. She should wake him up, not the other way around.

Very good point!!! Yeah the little bastard, I am in charge!!! haha

Yeah Kimmy I tried that for the first week I had him and I was getting up and down all night. I swear it was fun for him. He would scream I would cover him and sit back down. He would stop screaming right away and I would wait a minute or two so the effect would take place and right when I would uncover him SCREAM, so I would cover him again. Sometimes he would wait until I sat back down and then scream. So I swear he was laughing at me. My friends said that bird is so playing you! haha SO I tried the calling to him worked, but then in the morning SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM. SO no I am going to change his bowls at night and cover him up. I know as soon as I get it down it will be easy and fun. It's just learning him and I don't know anything about birds. He is a lot harder to deal with than the Bearded Dragon that is for sure.

Why would you uncover him? It isn't punishment, it is time to go to sleep. Cover at 8 or 9 PM, uncover when you wake up.

This site told me that if you lay a light sheet over the cage when a bird is screaming it will calm him down and stop him from screaming and if I continued to do this then he would learn not to scream anymore. I was doing this during the day when he was screaming.
