:stop Whats your bighip optin ratio for subscribes to confirms?

How many people do you lose in the whole double opt in process?
When i used my own script i had better results (single opt in) but ofcourse bighip offers whitelisted mailing campaigns...

Of 250 who the subscribed the past few days 90 people didnt confirm...this is pretty damn bad if you ask me :/

Basically the only reason im using bigip is because i can legally mail my members through them. I would mail them myself but i dont know of a legal way to send out mailers to mainly hotmail and yahoo addresses. Its really a waste to lose 1/3 good mails because those people have to not only click a confirm link in their email but they also need to fill in a random confirmation word TWICE. So thats 3 steps. Plus the mentioning half way they will be put on a mailing list plus a remove link 16 people used right away so far. And not to forget their confirm mail goes straight to the spam folder if you have a spam filter installed...which is very odd for a company who (supposedly) is whitelisted everywhere.

Im NOT bashing bighip, i mean, they do what they have to do and im not forced to use them...i just wonder if anybody knows some alternatives...like can i mail the single optin list myself legally, while hitting the inboxes.

They allow you to invite members, but check for yourself how it works, can't remember exactly, I think Yahoo allows you to invite 100 new members per group ???

So why doesnt every spammer simply extract hotmails from his harvested lists and inserts them in the msn groups...and same for yahoo? I must be missing something.

Haha
I dont think it's that simple, if you try to join random people they'll complain, and your group will be closed. To subscribe emails that you collected, you send them an invite message e.g. "hi guys I'm the owner of mysite.com (the one that they've visited and where you got the emails form) and I'm starting this group and.........."
This way the complaints will be low or non-exiastant and you'll have no problems.

I might be talking out of my ass thoug, I know a guy that's doing it this way with the emails that he had collected, but not sure how exactly is he doing it.......

I'll be giving it a try in the next couple of days, I have thousand of hotmail and yahoo mails that I've collected from one of my sites, that I haven't used at all.

YARGH! Not sure on MSN. I don't use them. Googles new group service may do both.

YARGH! It used to allow you to add without notification. They might have changed it.

Oh yea, your confirmation ratio seems really low compared to the standard 85% who would double optin. What you need to do is offer them something free like a 5 minute porn video or setup a quick fake site with filler content and offer them a free lifetime porn password when they optin. Stuff like that can shoot your confirm ratios up a bunch. Good luck

Well, i have something better than that actually. They optin for a video download. A video they really want to have....
So i dont understand why i lose so many people halfway the process.

Well actually i do, its because they need to confirm 3 times and find their confirm email in the spam folder :/

30% is a normal confirm ratio, if you ever use ce's mail program you will see similar numbers

Well, isnt that a waste? Like i said, if i do it my way, single optin i get a 90% success rate. The only problem is mailing them out...i still have to look up that google group thing but for some reason it still sounds too good to be true. If it were that easy every spammer would use them for their lists.

I don't think it'd be worth the trouble. After one mailing, there'd be tons of complaints and Google would close the group.

I'm pretty sure Yahoo allows you to add people to your list, but only 50 per day.

You can mail single opt-ins legally, but not all sponsors will take the traffic. Most prefer double opt-in. You'll also probably get a higher complaint volume.

Youre probably right.

So i have to chose between 50% more emails my way and not being able to mail them legally. I can send them through dm with peas but will lose 90% because of the spam filters. So i guess my only solution is sticking with bighip then. I just wish they would make their optin process just a little bit easier. 3 steps plus mentioning of subscribing to mailing lists and a removal link right away is just asking for such a lousy confirmation ratio :/

You are using a whitelisted service that is 100% legal. You should be happy with anything over 20% confirming. It will make you more in the long run there is no way you can get mail into the big 3 consistently without being white listed or breaking laws

Ya youre right. I'll just stick with it.
Still it bugs me that if theyre whitelisted everywhere, why does their confirm mail goes straight to the spam folder? Someone obviously blacklisted them somewhere.

Where does it go to the spam folder? I would contact them about this. That is not a good thing and on that note I understand your frustration.

Is it anything you added to the message template maybe that is causeing it?
I would definatly call them and talk to them about this. Its in big hips best interest to get the mail through right. More confirms = more you pay them

No just that standard verification / welcome mail gets filtered out by at least 1 spam filter, mine. Im using cloudmark and im pretty sure they use the same blacklists and most big spam filters out there.

Big 3 does not use cloud mark do they? That is what you are targetting with a white listed sender like big hip.

After a while you are going to get blocked by sending just optins because many people just put in bogus address hoping to get in. Also with a acutal email confirm you make it a little bit easier that some dick who doesn't like you starts entering random email's on your site.

ratio

Franck,

We achieve anywhere from 50%-70% confirm ratio.

Having said that we do achieve 10%+ click ratio on our mailers on bighip.
