No I didn't see the squid kill the guy, I saw the body afterwards. The squid were about 5ft tall from what the marine biologist said. A squid that big in it's environment has strength you wouldn't believe and some have two razor sharp beaks that they use to break shells with.

Ripped that dude to shreds.

Squid and cuttlefish are no fucking joke bro. Not only are they aggressive but they have attitudes too.

thats a nice story exept for the fact that they live in 500-2000ft deep water and have never been observed alive by anyone... ever.

i have seen dozens of giant squid that we have caught in the Gulf Of Alaska while fishing for Pollock. One of them is in the Smithsonian Institute. i doubt anyone else here can say that.

so, i guess you will have to compare this tabloid like article which makes claims like:

"They are notorious cannibals. They have been called the most opportunistic killers in the sea. They have been observed employing cooperative hunting techniques, yet they will not hesitate to gorge upon one another should they sense the slightest possible opening. Although they primarily hunt fish, they have been rumored to kill and eat small mammals, even dogs. They will attack anything over which they sense an advantage, including humans. Divers recount breathtaking beatings, painful lacerations from their sharp hooks and even incidences where, working in teams, these animals have dragged divers into deeper water to subdue them."

to:

every credible scientific study or attempt to study them which all say "sorry, we can't find them, we looked, we don't know anything about them... we think they live in deep water and no one has ever seen one alive"

besides, if anyone here had ever seen one, they would know that they are not in fact powerful, dangerous etc... they are obvious deep water creatures exibiting the typical traits of all deep water fish and invertibrates, being that they are fragile, weak and soft.

humboldt squid seem pretty much accepted as attacking humans but they are not giant squid. just large.

i did a quick google and saw even national geographic has a show which claims to have footage of them (humboldt) attacking divers.

it matters a lot when someone is making claims that cannot be supported by evidence or science. following that logic... can we accept all the claims of giant squids sinking boats? or would you prefer to stick to what can be proven and is supported by the evidence?

FROM THE SAME ARTICLE:
?They are, in my opinion, the most opportunistic animals in the world, feeding on any type of fish they come in contact with and occasionally mammals,? Cassell says. ?I?ve interviewed many people who have been attacked by these squids. There are also stories of disappearances, always unexplained, around the Humboldt squid. Always fishermen.

?I?ve actually seen a Humboldt squid attack a thresher shark twice its size, bite through the very tough skin of the shark and pull out a fist-size chunk of flesh. The Humboldt squid don?t have to kill, they latch on and eat as much as they can without injury to themselves. Because of this they will test and attack most everything they encounter.?

Typically we would catch them in deep water where there is hard rocky bottom.

not only that, one that we caught on the Fishing vessel "Dawn" in the Gulf of Alaska, not far from Kodiak Island is on display in the Smithsonian Institute. Its documented by Alaska Fish and Game Marine Biologists. It is documented by the Federal Fisheries Observer that was on board at the time, to monitor all by-catch (unitended species that are caught while targeting a specific species) and so on and so on.

its not like i am just some guy making up some wild story about being attacked and torn to shreds by one... but of course for some reason can't find the report of it happening, the medical report, witnesses, photographs etc.
