i actually still got this baby stored at my parents house.. the real geeky thing is that im telling the truth..

it was compatible with the ordinary c-64 cassettedrive, and the one i got came with a DUAL 5,25 diskdrive. 32k ram and the standard green monochrome built in monitor..

the only program i had was a database for used car parts, all in german.. all the manuals was in german too.. but that didnt stop me from making custom hardware so i could use the computer to control external lights and other stuff..

1 mhz and i ruled!

Commodore Vic20

I had to use our TV as the monitor, and it had no memory. Once the text cleared the screen it was gone.

It was only good for:

10 print> RedShoe
20 goto 10

Oh, and a game called Omega Race.

Atari, then c64 for years and then the first affordable XT.
I bought the first soundblaster card available, a mono card for 300 bucks or so

Larry III got me into gaming, damn that game was fine. I miss those days.

I bought an Atari (8-bit) 1200XL in 1985. Returned it the next day for an Atari (8-bit) 130XE because it didn't have built-in BASIC.

I learned to program in this computer. My best work was the porting of Norton Utilities for the MS-DOS version of the Atari 8-bit -- SpartaDOS 3.2d.

Threw it away last summer because I finally moved back to Puerto Rico and the move was expensive enough.

I still have my Atari 8-bit site; obviously dead for more than 2 years:

I started with the Vic 20 then went to the C64 and finally got in touch with intel with the commador PC Colt 8088. How many knew that commador made a XT clone? from there I just went up with the numbers.

The thing was about the size of a large paperback book. It was the original laptop I guess...LOL
It ran of cassette..and then I moved up to the big guns. I had an atari 800 xl.

My first computer was a 'luggable' looked like a suitcase. It was a Panasonic SR Partner with a green screen, built in thermal printer, 8086 processor and dual 360k drives. Shortly thereafter I also got an original Mac. I think I was like 8 or 9 or something.

Mine was in 1986...a super fast compaq 386/4 meg ram..and a math coprocessor..I still remember the head of engineering saying "107meg HD...you'll NEVER fill that up"...the 13" monitor still works and the box has spent the last 10 years serving files

Atari 800XL attached to a little ass TV. I remember making an all text game with the old If 100=No then Goto 200 command. The game took you thru a cave and asked about 10 questions along the way. Depending on your choice of left or right at certain areas you may have met an Ogre and been killed. It took about 3 minutes to play and was about 8,000 lines cuz of all the stupid "if" possibilities.

I also was inspired to password protect it by the movie "War Games" The pass was Joshua after the guys son so mine was Jessica after my little sister

How's that for old school...???
