I posted earlier that I started with a ZX81, but then I got to thinking about just HOW MANY computers I've gotten through since then. Scary!

ZX81->
ZX Spectrum 16K->
Commodore 64->
Amstrad 1512 PC clone->
Philips PC AT 286->
Tandon 386->
Compaq 486->
Compaq P120->
Home built PC (P150/P233/PII300/PIII500)

So that's 9 computers in 20 years, or 12 if you count all the processor, motherboard and other upgrades I've done to my "final" machine

I guess my upgrade path follows Moore's Law pretty much exactly!

On the memory front, I've gone from 1KB to 384MB (384,000 times larger)

On the storage front, I've gone from 170KB (first C64 disk drive) to 57GB (335,000 times larger)

On the speed front (I know it's not apples to apples, but...) I've gone from 0.8Mhz to 500MHz (625 times faster)

From the above, looks like the chip makers have been slacking compared to everyone else
