You'd have to be a moron to not agree with Bush

Just watching the latest Republican shill mouthpiece that Fox News runs regularly in support of the Bush agenda and the anchor actually asked him a good question, one that I had wondered about. After the guy said said only a moron wouldn't support the president's plan she asked him if there was any sort of protection for folks if their investments in the proposed private retirement accounts went belly up and the guy responded that it is just a crazy part of freedom.

So there you go. 20 years from now when the new Enrons come rolling in, the govt will just tell you that you are crazy and are free to be

you internet morons crack me up.
please choose from the chart below the date you started working (for those of you 20something idiots, use your parent's history instead) then please note the % of increase between then and now. during any 40yrs you choose, you'd be better off putting your SS money into the market than into the government.

It's the second of these calculators I've tried. The one from the CATO Institute is down. That one has me losing about 1500.00 per year of MY FUCKING MONEY.

I suggest you read text on the lower half of the page where they detail how they get those figures.

ps: I'm not embarassed for you darling, don't be embarrassed for me.

You might be right.

I saw it the interview. What you failed to mention is that he was being sarcastic to piss off people like you. You didn't see the smile on his face.

Did you hear him also say that democrats can choose to put their money in savings accounts or under the matress and still benefit from the new plan.

smoke and mirrors darling.
pretending that using 4% of your fica for private investment will cause you to lose 1500.00 a year is buying into the liberal mantra of "we need more of your money"
here's an idea, instead of pretending the 4% of YOUR money you'll no longer be handing over to the government is going to cut your SS payments when you retire, how about we force the government to cut wasteful spending by 4% so fully funding SS and privatizing 4% is a wash?
difficult concept when you buy into the "we're not taxed enough" idea the liberals trot out.

I think you uncovered the reason why the same people who were demanding SS reform in the 90's have now decided that SS is not a problem. It turns out they didn't want to reform it, they just wanted you and me to contribute more to the same plan. That way, It would be harder for me to reach the socially elite status they want to keep exclusive.

Bush is a hypocrite. He talk about how it's MY money. But under his plan and I have VERY few choices for investments. And I can't take the money out early if there is an emergency. Also when I retire the government won't let me have the money in a lump sum THEY dertermine how much I get each year. So how is that ME knowing best what to do with MY money. Seems like same old dog, new trick in my book.

Are you comparing the proposed plan to the old plan?

As it stand now, I dont think you can take it out early, get it in a lump sum, or have many investment options.

If that is what you are looking for, then this proposed plan is for you out of the two options.

If I had my way I dump the whole system. SS is nothing more than a big Ponzi scheme. My idea of reform would be first taking everyone under 26 out of the system and starting from there.

I agree there should be drastic cuts to government waste. I believe Vice President Gore tried to implement such a program and found himself stonewalled by the right side of the room.

Will you admit your boy George has spent way more than my boy Bill?

I think we see from the charts that Bill was neglecting the military a little bit in what would turn out to be a very crucial time.

From the day that a President is elected, he is workign getting elected to a second term. (both Parties) , traditionally, the wasteful spending in not cut as it should be in the first term.

Also, I think we are looking at this from two different sides.

1) you say that clinton didn't spend money
2) you say that the right kept gore from cutting spending.

Which one is it? Did the right cause extra spending or did they create more spending?

I would just like to point out how great it is to have democrats now arguing to cut spending.

They have changed one of their core agendas to gain political footing.

Whats next, will Hillary run on a platform to kick gays out of the military completely?

I cant wait to see her campaign where she will go fishing and hunting in Louisiana and then stop off at a DAllas Cowboys game wearing a cowboy hat. This is going to be good.

I bet the democrats dont realize that Rush and Hannity can retire on the money they will make if she runs for president.

A big chunk of discretionary spending went to disaster relief and perscription drug/ medicaid spending.
did your billy boy spend on anything helpful like that?

I said the Clinton spent less than Bush. As far as Clinton's military spending is concerned, I assume you mean that if he had spent more, 9/11 wouldn't have happened? While the Pentagon USED to have control over intelligence spending, I need you to explain to me how more bombs and tanks and missiles would have prevented 9/11.

1) I said Clinton spent less money that Bush has.

2) Gore's Initiative to Streamline Government was about cutting waste, not spending. There's a difference

I have to look for it. They had a chart going all the way back to Reagan and the bars go up for the Reagan and Bush Sr, then back down again during Clinton, then way up for Junior. I believe Jr has spent more than either his daddy or Ronnie.

Damn, I wish I had saved that chart. But for you my love, here's a link:

I wasn't saying that more tanks would have prevented 9/11. I am saying that I dont think our military was being prepared to fight the wars that had already been declared on us.

Waste and spending are semantics.

I may consider waste, what you consider spending.

For example, one of the 15 labs being paid to study the growing habits of the grapefruit is not conisdered useful spending unless you work in that lab.

Another example is a leader of our government cutting funing so NASA is forced to retrieve million dollar satelites with fishing poles is an example of what?
