Check out this car wreck that happened today in SD!

This fool must have not hit the brakes when the big rig did. Van is under all the way to the back seat. Three people died and traffic was backed up for miles.

Word is they were on their way to a vacation in the Bahamas. Probably not paying attention looking for plane tickets. Traffic was backed up for 12 miles. Open your eyes people!

That's what you get for tailgating a semi and not paying attention. This should be a wake up call for all aggressive asshole and fuckhole drivers. People are way out of control with their in the hurry don't give a shit about anyone attitude.

Is that a federal law or state by state? If there wasn't one and there should have been someone is going to have a good civil suit even if the accident is determined to be the van driver's fault.

that's horrible ... sad thing is most of these accidents could be avoided if ppl would stop driving so close during rushhour.

I almost saw some kid cause a couple accidents yesterday in traffic. He passed everyone in the break down lane, got to the exit, cut off people then tailgated the rest of the way (weaving in and out).

The semi had to of been stopped when the van plowed into them.

It would have made more sense to swerve rather than hit the semi.

There is definatly 2 decapitated people in there, maybe even half a torso spread acroos that van like butter.

What a scary cleanup job. The saddest thing its the funeral may not be pretty.

RIP

there are trailer companies that offer the lower bars and it is a law in other countries that this lower bar be on all trailers... so far though, in the US, the trucking companies have succeeded in buying enough politicians to keep any laws to make the lower bars mandatory here just a pipe dream.

Yeah, it's not even an offset or sideways crash, it's almost perfectly lined up.

Even if there was traffic either side of them they may have still had a chance. Better to clip another car than go straight under a truck.

It is federal law. All trailers must have a rear bumper that extends to within 16 inches of the ground.

They also have to pass a safety test I forget the speed.

As an ex truck driver this trailer bar was part of my daily inspection per federal law.

However all cars have bumpers ... do they work ? only in low speed accidents. So to rush and start pointing the fingers at the trailer companies is wrong.

The dumbass should have seen the truck stopping. Clearly the driver could not have been paying attention. It's sad the driver and others had to die for his inattentiveness.

Just heard on the news that it was 5am and the truck was stalled out in the center lane. Witness said the driver of the van had been cutting lanes and speeding before it made a wrong lane change and BAM! Two died on impact and the third died at the hospital. People need to slow down.
