To burn a PS2 cd, you need a DVD writer. Got one?

You also need a modchip...for PS2 that you need to install in your PS2...got one?

It's not like "rip and play" LOL

Umm no you dont, after ripping out a few of the RFM movies, most PS2 games well fit on a regular cd. You also dont need a mod chip to play burnt games. Dont speak before you know what your talking about.

Kalisto just released a copy of Tony Hawk 3 that I have burnt and played...its great, the only thing they ripped out was a few useless movies.

I've never heard of anyone being able to play a burnt game without a mod chip.

You have never heard about the *swap* technique? You put a original cd in, then open it and put the burnt game in and it boots up....
All Sega Dreamcast burnt games boot up by themself, and some PS2 games do.

Mod chips were only for the Old Playstation, with the newer systems, they either have the boot up code directly on the burnt cd, or you have to use the swap technique.

You don't need a DVD burner to burn PS2 games. You will manage to fit the games on a CD.

You DO need a boot disk for PS2. Not just a regular cd but a special boot cd and then all games will work.

Buy Final Fantasy 10 when it comes out Jan 2nd. I already pre-ordered mine. I bought a PS2 just for FF10. Oh...and GTA3 looks cool too!

You know what pisses me off though? Sony released PS2 Linux for the Japanese market and it's region locked so it won't work with U.S. PS2s! You can't use a mod chip either! They also said they have no plans on releasing a U.S. version. FUCK YOU SONY!

Running Linux with X windows on a PS2 w/ keyboard and hard drive would be one of the coolest things in the world! Plus it would be a great way to get a head start in console development without shelling out 100k+ on a dev kit.

In the future we plan on setting up a division in Candid Publishing, Inc. for developing console and PC games. Right now I'm doing research on all the consoles.

I got my eyes set on the PS2 and Xbox right now. Nintendo and others are out because their 3rd party developer licenses offer no freedom. PS2 is nice and the licenses are flexible, but it is difficult to program in BUT you develop your games in a Linux environment. Same thing with Xbox on the licensing deal, but it is MUCH easier to develop for and development is done in a Visual Studio Windows enviroment. Problem with Xbox is that they are a console newbies, time will tell.

Our programmers are experienced in working in both a Linux and Windows enviroment so I'll be picking either PS2 or Xbox.

Anyways sorry for the ramble.
