I have never used AOL and never installed their software which is why I don't know how that thing looks but I still got an important question that I need answered...
My friend got a very important email from a person that is very close to me and he told me he could not send it over because he deleted it... so tell me about aol's email software... if you really hit some sort of delete button or whatever... doesn't an email just go to some sort of rec bin or deleted items folder like in outlook? also is it possible to send/recieve your aol email via outlook? This sounds too strange to me... I need to know if he's lying at me. Answers to those questions are appreciated... thanks |

There is a recently deleted folder, as well as a local copy if he ever read it.
The recently deleted folder though is a tiny ass text link, but it does keep files for quite some time. As for the local filing cabinet, it keeps them until you delete them in your manager. |

Recently Deleted Mail is like a recycle bin, but it's emptied every 24hrs.

AOL is a virus. There was prolly a way to delete the message and he may not of known the way to get it back. I have also lost email on aol. They have time outs on long they keep emails depending on where the email is in the system - saved - saved on your PC - deleted - not opened.....
It is a good backup when other systems fail. When your servers fail, it's an email to use for support. When your Internet connection fails (DSL, T1, cable...) at least you'll have dialup. |

well I already figured (when posting this thread) that there is a way to get that email back.. there is always a way...
I am having the impression that he does not want me to get it which is why I am going to confront him with that.. so this is definite... if the email has been recieved and deleted there is a 24h period to restore it before it gets permanently removed? |

Aside from the bad reputation they have for the morality they package with their service, there is a recently deleted area for email and now you can mirror your email to your desktop if you like.
