look at the bottom there should be a cover to open with a few screws, and there will be a fan there, carefully take the fan out and clean the dirt out of it, they pick up a lot of dust especially if you lay it onthe carpet.

Clean or replace the fan. Or you can use it as paper weight.

But to be honest I sent my laptop back under the warrenty and they replaced the monitor. Maybe they cleaned some stuff........ but it works better now and does'nt over heat....... I still use the chill pad for some reason. I figure heat can damage things so I may as well keep it as cool as possible. I never turn off my computers and they run for months.

Take a can of compressed air and hose out all the vents while the machine is running. You will see a massive dust cloud spray out and the computer will be magically fixed.

You owe me.

How are you using the laptop when it is heating up? I ask because some people take them to bed with them and cover up all the vents.

Just don't set it on your lap, though.

i've done several things that have worked.
put some stuff at the 4 corners of the bottom of laptop so its elevated off the desk.
buy an laptop fan/stand on ebay, it connects through usb.
leave the lid open or at least slightly open, with the screen off.
