I saw I. Robot yesterday

and I loved it!

although I thought the sequence of event which formed the plot to be very farfetched and improbable, I loved the idea of the movie and was very interested throughout the entire film

the ending is also something to think about what is your interpretation of it?

kickass movie, let me know what you thought

I think that you are in all likelihood in love with Will Smith.

Yep crap story line - very predictable. Even the attempt at a 'twist' at the end. However, why on earth do movies need to be realistic or have watertight plots? They're movies and often pure fantasy and escapism. I've never understood why people need to nit pick trivial points and declare a movie crap because of it.

Despite all the above it was enjoyable and watchable. Don't expect it to be more than it is and chances are you'll enjoy it too.

It was horrible.

Shameless ad spots.

Find a more shameless plug (with the exception of ipods in blade 3) than when will smith is asked about his sneakers and he specifies that they are vintage 2004. or all the audis.

Will Smith ruins almost every movie he's in.

He always stars as "Will Smith"

Can he do a different character?

I liked Asimov's books and have never caught the movie.

I, Robot, the book, is actually a collection of short stories. I don't see how Will Smith could fit in period. What exactly is the movie based on? The Short Stories? The Robot Novels? Anyone know?

I haven't seen I Robot. I never enjoyed the Independence Day movies either. Ali sucked.

Will was really exceptional in the movie "Six degrees of Seperation" though. Completely different role for him and based on a true story.

Because good, well-told stories are more entertaining than crappy stories full of plot holes and weak characters.

It depends entirely on what you expect from the movie and the theme of the movie. When you're dealing with stuff that has never existed, will never exist, is on an alternate reality etc etc then to say that is bollocks much of the time. A bad film is a bad film but to slag off films for trivial points makes me wonder about the people watching them. Do you ever actually enjoy a film if you feel the need to sit through the whole 90 mins+ looking for errors?

As for Will Smith being Will Smith - that's what he does for the most part. Seeing a Will Smith film if you don't like what he does would be daft.

What the fuck though. It all comes down to differing tastes etc and with obvious exceptions most films will have fans somewhere as it appeals to them - even if it's just 10yr old kids. The superior than though attitude because you don't like a film that appeals to some others on whatever level just makes the person doing so look like an asshole.

Sure that holds true if you make a movie with Wil Smith called "Wil Smith kicks some robot ass, yo".

The dissapointment comes in when you bill it as based on "I, Robot" a collection of excellent short stories by Asimov. I expected more because the stories I expected it to be based on are very good. Unfortunetly, there's very little from Asimov's original works. A few characters and the rules of robotics.

I thought the movie was great. I was very surprised to see that the movie takes place only 30 years from now. Most of the time in the past sci fi movies took place hundreds or thousands of years in the future. Today, technology moves so fast that 30 years in advance for a plot is enough. I think that is interesting.

SPOILER

Although not stated as such in the film, V.I.K.I's behavior follows what Asimov called the "Zeroth Law of Robotics" which states that a robot may not injure humanity, or, through inaction, allow humanity to come to harm. This fourth law was put into practice in Asimov"s novel "Robots and Empire" by the mind-reading robot R. Giskard Reventlov and the android R. Daneel Olivaw.

SPOILER END

I thought it was enjoyable. I saw it last week...I'm a Philly girl so I am a Will fan. If you are not a Will Smith fan then you should pass on the movie.

It does go to show you that anything created to help mankind could very well destroy mankind.
