I wasn't thinking that at all...I do question the quality of her life, but I would never for one moment, call an innocent child with any kind of disability "that thing", and I believe she has every right to her life as any of us do.

That is probably the saddest story I've ever heard. Unless they manage to get her face to some type of normality, she and anyone in her company will suffer stares and just horrible reactions from other people. I feel for them, it must not be easy. Although ultrasounds do not get everything, I'm almost 100% sure that one of it's main purposes is bone density, since it's by measuring the femur bone that they know the approximate age of gestation & date of delivery. What I'm wondering is if someone didn't notice it (the missing bones), if they chose to go full-term knowing there was something wrong or if they didn't have proper medical follow-up in the nine months.

Having her with you, you love her unconditionally. If you know of it within the first 12 weeks - then I'd say that personally, I would choose to terminate in this case - I don't want any undue suffering for my children - both physical injuries & operations and social suffering from shocked passersby.

That family is really an inspiration. I recently went through some of my own turmoil which in turn made me look at life in an entirely different light. Many of us do not realize how lucky we have it. Those people will be just fine. Their daughter is a sweetheart and she will do just fine in life, no matter what her appearance may be.
