I'm in the first week of my first adwords campaign.

I used "nude art" and "tasteful nudes" as my keywords, in US and Canada. I'm getting about 20 clicks a day. I wish I could get more clicks, though. Use those on google - you should see my ad.

The traffic estimator said I'd get about 19 - 20. It's proving to be accurate.

I'm paying 5 cents a click.

The site is http://www.primanudes.com

I think the ad content is good, and it's certainly relevant.

Anyone have any tips for getting more clicks?

Thanks, and 49thParallel - good job - thanks for sharing!

I would recommend gauging your traffic in terms of ROI tracking.

How do you know those clicks are converting into cash?

Very good question. I really have no way of tracking incoming hits to outgoing clicks to transactions.

Ok here are some tips

1) Instead of refreshing the page, set your google preferences to 100 results, that way all the adwords appear on one page, alot easier to count them that way. Youll see the exact number of competitors for a keyword.

2) Use dynamic ads to figure out which ones get the best CTR. In other words every time you start an adgroup make sure you have 2 separate ads. After about 30-50 clicks whichever has the best CTR, you keep the other you delete. Then you make another ad, and try to beat the first winner with it. I know people who got up to 20% CTR like that.

3) Buy the perry marshall book, its worth it.

4) Think keywords with more then one word. I know its tempting to bid on "latina" or "ebony" but youre better off bidding on "latina pussy videos".

5) RELEVANCE = ROI.

ANy questions?

Also remember.

CTR doesnt always equal good sales. I was getting a .7 CTR once (barely getting by), but converting 1:30. My text ad was extremely specific to the product, and avoided freeloaders at all costs. (SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT)

Has anyone else used Adword Equalizer (http://www.adwordequalizer.com/)?

Is it worth it to purchase such a product?

You can either use a PPC tracking tool (it may be hard to find one that is geared towards Adwords, since the Google system is unique from other PPC methods).

The other method is simple, just tack on a "?=keyword_here" to the end of your URL.

I can track the incoming - no problem. The clicks out are a bit harder. I'd have to figure out how to get the URL value and append it to the outgoing URLs in phpAdsNew, and the other sponsor links throughout the site.

Some of the links are in the php-based Coppermine Gallery software, some are in the toplist software, some are in phpAdsNew, and some are through BlogRolling. Blogrolling actually does give me some traffic, suprisingly.

On a side note, I'm seeing proof of 49thParallel's info about relevance providing higher listings. I was listed 7 of 7 for "nude art" until today. Now it's 4 of about 7, and I'm guessing it will climb as time goes on. Still only paying 5 cents per click.

Heh - was going to edit, but I'll leave it here - I just checked again, and now I'm listed in 2nd place. I last checked it about an hour ago. This is pretty cool.

How're you searching for your Google Adword placement? A regular search through Google on my end shows PrimaNudes as 4th out of 4 Adwords.

Hello. Sorry I haven't had more time this weekend to add more advice. And I'm only dropping by for a few minutes right now. My bathroom renovations are calling....

Anyhow, nick3131 added some very good tips above. And I see a couple of people have indeed bought Perry Marshalls Adwords eBook. I'm confident you won't be disappointed.

Someone asked if Adwords Equalizer is worth buying. MY answer, Yes, but you can also survive without it. The one major drawback to Adwords Equalizer is that the traffic stats it provides are usually pretty inaccurate. It get's these stats from Overture. And overture uses VERY broad based logic when delivering results for searches.

So, I use Adwords Equalizer f=to find undeutilized niches, then I validate the traffic stats with Wordtracker.

Wordtracker offers a free trial. If you are doing mainstream sites, you might be able to get away with never buying a membership. But, for any adult terms, such as sex, nude, adult, ...., the free trial will give you zero results. Only the paid subscription delivers adult search figures. I find wordtracker's traffic figures ARE quite accurate.

want more tips?

break down your campains into smaller groups. ifyou have g roup with hundreds of keywords but have 0% CTR they will lower/slow your ads.

Higher CTR's help with positioning. Group high CTR words together and you'll see better positions. Positions are determined by CTR and max bids and budgets ( don't ask because its googles weird never ending changes of their algos)

if your sponsor doesn't allow subID's make different listings useing different creatives. they most of the time track based on different creatives and their creative codes. Make a excel spread sheet just pointing diff creatives to diff add groups. Works great for those sponsors that don't allow keyword/subid tracking.

It shows up now.

Apparently, if you set Google results to 100, then the number of Adwords fluctuates.

It doesn't seem to display ALL the Adwords.

First off, hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!

Just a quick update on an improvement on one piece of advice I provided aboive.

I had mentioned that for some keywords, you could find better traffic bargains by bidding on Canadian traffic. THis still remains true, however the method of determining who your competition is will now be a lot easier then the proxy method I suggested. Here's how you do it:

Say you are bidding on the keyword phrase "adult dating". Go to google and enter this in the search box. You will see this in your browsers address box:
http://www.google.com/search?num=100...q=adult+dating.

Add &gl=ca to see matches from Canada. &gl=uk for United Kingdom.

For example, the above url would now look like this
http://www.google.com/search?num=100...t+dating&gl=ca

Another advantage of this is that if you set up different campaigns for each country, you might be able to save considerable amounts on the bid.

For example, say for the above, you had one campaign which currently delivered your ad to both Canada and U.S. But, now, if you split them into separate campaigns you might find that you can bid less for Canada, and still maintain the same position in the search results.

P.S. To Eric. Surely you have seen some of my posts putting adult.com into the illustrious company of every other program that misleads the consumer by using misleading cross-sells and trials that rebill 24 hours before end of trial. And you think that makes me a candidate for actually giving your company cash for advertising. Surely, you are joking, right?

Definite a good thread, after all, it was this thread that prompted me to go deeper into Adwords.

Just a warning to those starting, be prepared to "waste" money before getting any decent returns.
