"Following a record opening day take on Thursday, the film sold an additional $93.3 million worth of tickets in its first weekend of release across North America -- the No. 2 weekend gross of all time behind "Spider-Man," according to studio estimates issued on Sunday."

Sounds like those who flocked to the theatres are the real sheep!

99 percent of the people I saw in the theater had no clue what was going on throught the flick and only were 'shocked and awed' by the action...I personally dont think the Wachowski Bros. were intending on the critics bombing the flick on the basis that they had no brain to begin with and only gave the movie high reviews when they did because of the special effects

I loved it...except for a few parts which ill go into...

Everyone else in my group of 10 hated it, and there not sheep by a long shot...

Things I disliked...

1) The soundtrack was pathitic...
2) Agent Smith Clone fight scene went on a bit to long (the park scene) Great scene but I think it lost impact after 10 mins or so.
3) Who the fuck was that kid that kept trying to follow neo in zion what the fuck was he there for, why the fuck did he matter what purpose did he play...

Things I loved
1) DIALOG!!!!! I love the matrix backstory and this went in a direction I did not expect, there are some good levels to chew on, Im excited to see how there going to pull it off in 3....
2) The Tribal/Sex scene..I actualy loved it...everyone else i was with hated it...hell yea...tomorow we die...tonight we fuck like bunnies!!!!!
3) It actualy took a turn I did not see comeing with the whole zion thing, (6 zions, 6 "the ones", self healing systems, possibility that zion is not real but another construct of 01 (the race that is the machines)

There's an interesting point of reproduction that they make through the movie (zion, trin/neo fucking like bunnies, the girl who ate the cake (GET ME SOME OF THAT CAKE), agent smith virus...dont discount them as fluff i think there going somewhere with that...

Also the stab about how even in the "real world" we are dependent on machines which is a carry over from the original matrix but still it was cool to hear that speach...

Very happy with the movie...cant wait till 3...

The kid is from the Animatrix. Neo frees him, and he has a bad ass skateboarding scene.

The tribal sex scene was way too long, and to make up for not showing trinity's tits they showed a lot of girls in see-through shirts and Keanu's ass.

The agent smith fight scene lasted way too long.

There was way too much psuedo philosophical BS that didn't really mean anything.

All the special fx have pretty much already been done in the first matrix, but overdone till they were dead and buried in this one.

This movie is going to, most likely, wind up exactly like ExistenZ and 13th Floor.

On that note, i'm still definitely going to go see 3, and if you havent' seen it, download, buy, watch on tv, the Animatrix. Great animated background and history on the matrix, and lots of references to it in the 2nd movie.

You guys should watch the 1st one after seeing #2. Just like the first one, and the second, I bet the the third Matrix will have Neo once again at the end making a 'choice'.

Also, if you pay attention to Agent Smiths rant in #1, I find it quite interesting, how he explains that he wants out of 'this prison' so bad, and as we have seen in #2, he gets his way.

So technically what it boils down to, is the AI that the humans developed, found a way to hack into the human mind and basically become, human. ANd then we got Neo now learning he can do some serious Matrix hack type shit in the 'real world'. Now, going back to the first movie, it is cool to hear Morpheus speech on what is real.

Oh by the way, I found this shit on some other site... for all those people with a short attention span and didnt understand what the architect was spitting:

Quote:
The Architect - Hello, Neo.

Neo - Who are you?

The Architect - I am the Architect. I created the matrix. I've been waiting for you. You have many questions, and although the process has altered your consciousness, you remain irrevocably human. Ergo, some of my answers you will understand, and some of them you will not. Concordantly, while your first question may be the most pertinent, you may or may not realize it is also irrelevant.

Neo - Why am I here?

The Architect - Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the matrix. You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden to sedulously avoid it, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you, inexorably, here.

Neo - You haven't answered my question.

The Architect - Quite right. Interesting. That was quicker than the others.

*The responses of the other Ones appear on the monitors: "Others? What others? How many? Answer me!"*
(I dont agree with whoever wrote this, I think that the monitors are showing Neo's possible answers, possible hinting that there are alternatives to his actions (and hence the choice issue comes up). Also, the camera zooms in on Neo's current response, showing the choice made.)

The Architect - The matrix is older than you know. I prefer counting from the emergence of one integral anomaly to the emergence of the next, in which case this is the sixth version.

*Again, the responses of the other Ones appear on the monitors: "Five versions? Three? I've been lied too. This is bull****."*

Neo: There are only two possible explanations: either no one told me, or no one knows.

The Architect - Precisely. As you are undoubtedly gathering, the anomaly's systemic, creating fluctuations in even the most simplistic equations.

*Once again, the responses of the other Ones appear on the monitors: "You can't control me! **** you! I'm going to kill you! You can't make me do anything!*

Neo - Choice. The problem is choice.

*The scene cuts to Trinity fighting an agent, and then back to the Architects room*

The Architect - The first matrix I designed was quite naturally perfect, it was a work of art, flawless, sublime. A triumph equaled only by its monumental failure. The inevitability of its doom is as apparent to me now as a consequence of the imperfection inherent in every human being, thus I redesigned it based on your history to more accurately reflect the varying grotesqueries of your nature. However, I was again frustrated by failure. I have since come to understand that the answer eluded me because it required a lesser mind, or perhaps a mind less bound by the parameters of perfection. Thus, the answer was stumbled upon by another, an intuitive program, initially created to investigate certain aspects of the human psyche. If I am the father of the matrix, she would undoubtedly be its mother.

Neo - The Oracle.

The Architect - Please. As I was saying, she stumbled upon a solution whereby nearly 99.9% of all test subjects accepted the program, as long as they were given a choice, even if they were only aware of the choice at a near unconscious level. While this answer functioned, it was obviously fundamentally flawed, thus creating the otherwise contradictory systemic anomaly, that if left unchecked might threaten the system itself. Ergo, those that refused the program, while a minority, if unchecked, would constitute an escalating probability of disaster.

Neo - This is about Zion.

The Architect - You are here because Zion is about to be destroyed. Its every living inhabitant terminated, its entire existence eradicated.

Neo - Bull****.

*The responses of the other Ones appear on the monitors: "Bull****!"*

The Architect - Denial is the most predictable of all human responses. But, rest assured, this will be the sixth time we have destroyed it, and we have become exceedingly efficient at it.

*Scene cuts to Trinity fighting an agent, and then back to the Architects room.*

The Architect - The function of the One is now to return to the source, allowing a temporary dissemination of the code you carry, reinserting the prime program. After which you will be required to select from the matrix 23 individuals, 16 female, 7 male, to rebuild Zion. Failure to comply with this process will result in a cataclysmic system crash killing everyone connected to the matrix, which coupled with the extermination of Zion will ultimately result in the extinction of the entire human race.

Neo - You won't let it happen, you can't. You need human beings to survive.

The Architect - There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept. However, the relevant issue is whether or not you are ready to accept the responsibility for the death of every human being in this world.

After reading some other matrix threads, some people say its gonna be a matrix within a matrix thing. I think the Zion shit is not the matrix. In movie 1 they said the humans last celebration before the war was their creation of AI. So if its true AI, it would have a conscience. Conscience=mind, and mind needs body to survive. So the whole Agent Smith possessing Bane shit could just be an evolution of such AI, which it can now operate within an actual human body as opposed to the matrix itself. The human body is basically a biological computer. And more importantly then ever, its the time for McDonalds breakfast. I need a #5.

I can guarantee you will never find out if the Architect is fucking you or not... The whole point of the Architect is for you to get lost in the logic and kill yourself... No wonder people hate this movie -- they are in denial.

Most people who hate the movie plot just simply dont understand. The point of the architect is not to get lost in the logic... and if you think that, then obviously you dont get the plot.

I saw the movie yesterday and have been going back now and reading the Matrix threads that have been posted here since the movie came out. I see two types of people here: those that completely understood everything - and those that were mostly confused.

I personally was confused. I loved the original. I practically know it word for word. I went out of my way to not read too much about Reloaded on here, until I saw it. Well, now that I have seen it, I have to say that I am left unsatisfied.

Don't get me wrong, I realize that this is just the second part in a trilogy, but still - I think that Revolutions has alot of explaining to do and hope that it can wrap up all these loose ends nicely.

This movie is still manditory viewing. Anyone that has seen the Matrix and liked it, needs to see this as well. There were some of the best effects I have ever seen in a movie (How about the two tractor trailers in the head-on collision!) and some killer fight scenes (Smith vs. Neo). I'm going to go see it again soon.

If you are deciding if you should see this movie or not - I am sure you will make the right 'choice'.

I just watched it.. Got home about 15 minutes ago.

Overall I was disappointed with this Matrix. The thing I liked most about the first Matrix was the story line, not the special effects. Of course, the special effects were cool. However, I think they did a little overkill on the special effects this time.

They should have cut all of the fight scenes in half and focused more on the point of the story and cut the length of the movie down a bit.

I certainly don't blame them for making 2 sequels to the Matrix. It was an awesome movie the first time and as long as they can crank out another couple hundred million with every episode, they might as well keep making them.

To sum it up, Matrix I was great. Matrix 2 was OK, but doesn't compare to #1. Number 3, I'm considering not even seeing because I'm already tired of the Matrix hype.

I thought the Agent Smith fight scene not only went on ridiculously long, but why bother fighting when you can superman away anytime you get bored (and I say bored because there is no way Neo can lose a fight, right?).

Also, come on, all the time in the fight scene a badly drawn Neo was obviously CG. The only thing holding my interest in that scene after a while was trying to perceive what was actually Reeves and what was a CG cartoon.

That thing he does with his coat (sending shockwaves along the ground before he jets into the sky) was pretty cool.

It's fun to kick a little ass every now and then, but I wondered the same thing.

Also, why is it that he can just put up his hand and block bullets, but he can't do it with fists? He should just walk around town with a forcefield around him and take care of business ;)

Anyone like me really prefer to watch Trinity's fights? She's much more graceful and she isn't omnipotent, so there really is the element of risk in her fights. Her life is really at stake.

Also, one interesting thing I haven't noticed anyone commenting on is the rather obvious fact that the usual age difference between leading men and leading women are reversed in this movie. He is obviously in his 20's and she is obviously in the 30-35 age range. BUT, she is hot!

It's hype is 100% justified. Best movie of the year by far.

Yet, he's in flesh form, outside of the matrix? Care to explain?

I disagree! Sure, there were a hell of a lot more in terms of special effects, but there was still a very deep plot developing in this movie.

Ahh I understood it just fine but would only give it a 7.5 out of 10, the special effects were impressive don't get me wrong but lots of good special effects don't make a GREAT movie, for me it was a GOOD movie but not a GREAT one.
