I see nothing great about ozzy's music.
it's shit you hear from a 13 year old aspiring rock band. the lyrics from a lot of his songs are based around the guitar riffs... example..
"I, AM, I-RON-MAN" even though that was with black sabbath. one thing he has is his image, and that is good. but other than that, he sucks. and i don't see how the fuck ozzy can be compared (musically at least) to metallica. metallica was a LOT more original and unique in the way in which they constructed their songs. (obviously not anything post-black album though) yeah he was a pioneer of sorts, but uhm... his music was/is not that great IMO. |

Ozzy didn't even write the lyrics with Black Sabbath. 95% of them come from Geezer Butler.

Been lucky enough to see him twice in concert, you can't put him down unless you've seen him in concert, he has a presence that really moves the crowd, he makes the place rock hard, really hard!
Last time I saw him was in 1983 at the US festival in southern california. No big show from him, just pure OZZY and it was great. Talked to someone that saw him last year I think and he's still putting on a great show!

I saw Black Sabbath in Sept. 1978 and they sucked so fucking bad. I left about halfway through the show and the hall was already half empty. Van Halen opened for them and completely blew BS away. Ozzy was fucked up, staggering and slurring. It was fucking pathetic. Sabbath kicked him out of the band after that tour and brought in Dio.

Who else was doing what Black Sabbath was doing at the time?
Admittedly his solo stuff wasn't "revolutionary" like Sabbath was, but they were still great rock tunes (that's really all that matters) and he always had a knack for getting some of the best guitar players of the time. Jake E Lee, Randy Rhoads, even Zakk Wylde. I haven't really liked his last couple albums though, but everything before No More Tears was fantastic. |
