too much crap is going on right now it's like when i close my eyes the sounds and imagery in my head just get louder and more vivid

like lucid dreaming except its so prominent it drowns out the possibility of sleeping

I see, I think I have had that a few times before also. I just kept working until I passed out in the chair.

You could probably calm yourself down with some alcohol or an intensive workout.

I'm lucky to sleep 7 hours at night, go to bed at 10.00 wake at 5.00. To sleep 9 hours is a fantasy of mine.

i went to the gym about 12 hours ago and really fucked myself up.

i ached, but it didnt make me tired.

drinking in my current state of mental affairs probably isn't advisable, because i can't see any positive outcome stemming from drowning my problems in a bottle.

while that was a common practice at 15, i feel the scope of what affected me back then was infinitesimal compared to my woes of today and my current problems are more apt to be solved correctly the more i avoid intoxication.

however, sleep deprivation isn't really any joke either. this shit makes you feel incredibly fucked up.

yea. i used to get them frequently. now, not at all really. i think what my body would have previously characterized as a panic attack no longer invokes the same fear, uncertainty, and doubt within my mind anymore.

i have a lot of bipolar tendencies according to one shrink who i visited out of curiosity. still some remnants of childhood ADD lurking about. all in all though, i would consider myself reasonably sane. at least i can rationalize when i am thinking uncharacteristically.

Ok. The reason I advised alcohol is because as for myself, I get knocked right out.

You should probably try to occupy your head with lighter thoughts until you either pass out or feel calmed down enough to sleep. Play a game or something, or take a walk to some friends.

i have one of those multi-threaded minds where i can give priority to one thread for a short time but eventually my subsystem hijacks the process and reevaluates its status, thereby elevating the shit i don't want to think about back to the top of the list. i suck at managing my head effectively.

i've been playing gta: sa but sometimes that just frustrates me so i go around and hit cops and pedestrians with the giant dildo. the subterfuge does not last long and i return to my cyclic thinking again.

maybe i'll try to rainman the phonebook. that sounds boring.

ADD then. If you have some friends with Ritalin or Adderral, you could ask them for a dose. It is supposed to calm down ADDers.

it just makes you initially high, then your eye lids heavy, your thoughts slow down... and you sleep...

when u wake up, you're not groggy...

im told it can make ppl have hallucinations (during dreams?), but i reckon this is a very rare side effect as i've never had any hallucinations with this medication...

a few years ago my Dr. in the USA told me to take valium to stop my racing thoughts that occur just before bedtime.... he also said to keep a notepad on the nightstand and to write down my thoughts so i could let them go for the evening and pick them up where i left off...

also he said to NEVER, EVER watch TV while lying in bed... it trains your mind improperly that Bedroom is for Entertainment and NOT for sleeping...

(he said sex can occur whenever tho)

=)

ytcracker: maybe the background ambience provided by a TV or a radio can help you deflect your thoughts and go to sleep.

a little backround noise helps me sleep, I can't stand total silence, worse case, a couple shots of night-time Nyquil does wonders.
