I got hit with some messed up spyware a few days back. It keeps opening windows and freezing explorer and adaware or my virus program doesn't do crap about it. I had to uninstall at least 5 different files in safemode just so I can use this computer to access applications and to open ie exploer for 10 minutes before it closes itself down.

I will format this weekend. I almost felt like paying for one of the 'remove this spyware' ads that kept popping up so at least whoevers sending these are making money.

do yourself a favor, get Mozilla Firefox and you will be rid of most of that shit.

IE is just a magnet for that crap.

After you reformat, there's a single thing you need to do to forget about spyware: install firefox!

that's nothing compared to what i went through...

-crashed my .ddl files
-stole all my passwords and logins, changed them, and sent it out everywhere
-to remove the shit, the shit required you to be online... guess what it did then... crashed my internet, browser, everything

i had to nuke the whole thing and start over.. set me back a few weeks

How are you getting the spyware anyway? Surfing sites or from emails?

Once more, people, if you are not bright enough to install firefox and get rid of spyware once and for all, the don't bitch when you have to reinstall all your shit once a month.
You know what I do on my friends computers? Simply install firefox, remove the icon for internet explorer and tell them 'oh, this is the new version, just use this one from now on for the internet'. They never know what hit them, spyware issue is gone.
With this I want you all to understand, my friends do not notice anything different, just a google search box on the address bar. So far, I can say that 99% of pages look right on firefox.
