Jupiter Hosting Problems.... Anybody else?

I hate to do this. I've tried everything possible to get in touch with them. I didn't want to post this but I figure maybe this will get Ray to help get our shit fixed.

Some time last night our bandwidth dropped in half and has not recovered. We've had complaints from all over the world regarding speed. Our bandwidth is way down and the site (especially the member's area) has been insanely slow to load at time. We've noticed SoCalCoeds has also been extremely slow today as well. Are any other jupiter clients experiencing this?

BTW, I've called the owner (Ray) twice today, the first time 11 hours ago, left a message and received no reply. We submitted an urgent support ticket which took more than 4 hours to receive a reply to. We were in contact with the support person for 2 hours and then he disappeared while our sites are still slow. We got in touch with another support rep that said they don't know why this is happening. And then no replies. I'm extremely frustrated right now and would just like to get our site speed back up.

Hope your shit gets fixed soon Bro!

Thanks Joel

Dude I've tried contacting everyone. I've been in contact with Poppy but he is a sales guy. The techs are just blowing us off saying they can't figure out what is up. Meanwhile we've had 17+ hours of our site being slow. There seems to be aboslutely no urgency on our problem and with no communication with Ray I'm under the impression I'm screwed until he returns on Thursday.

Sounds like you may need to move hosts or they need
new techs.

You know your traffic, your sales and daily routines.

I know when my shit is off ... I am sure you do too!

Exactly Joel. I couldn't have said it better. I know when something is off and sales, bandwidth and support tickets were way off today. I just hate being told there is no problem when I know for a fact there is and I also know I'm not the only one to have complained to them today.

Hey shap, how you doin bud.

Im on Jupiter as well, and all seems well here. My server is pretty loaded, but it seems normal otherwise.

When did you start to notice your problems? Ill look into my stats and see if i can see a drop as well, but as far as I can tell all is good with my network of sites.

God knows I do A LOT of bandwith with these guys and all seems fine on my end.

I went to twistys.com and it redirected to http://tour.twistys.com/t1/ took a second because you're using a META REFRESH tag instead of a Location: header to do the redirection.

The Rest of the tour loads extremely fast for me and I'm in Alaska.

Why don't you post the URL that you think is slow and have others from GFY help you test it?

Seriously dude.. if you don't know how to ping a server you don't belong posting in a thread about diagnosing a potential networking issue.

We don't discuss customer service issues on this board. I will say however that this was addressed, and so long as our customer believes something is wrong, we will continue to address it.

I am on vacation and returning tomorrow. Tech support is on duty and at the data center as usual.

Shawn is on duty ATM and is available by phone at our normal support number.

Shap, I ICQ'ed you but have not heard back. I am on a plane in 2 hours.

The tour itself loads fine (although it has had some slow periods earlier on tuesday). The main problem is with our member's area.

btw just to clear something up. This hasn't been an ongoing problem. Jupiter has been rock solid for us for a long time and this is truly an isolated incident that happened to happen during bad circumstances for everyone. Now that I've got a hold of Ray i'm very confident things will get resolved and I get go to bed tonight knowing they are working on it

shap, GFY is hosted at Jupiter. Anyone around here can tell you they are not having network or other problems.

The problem is obviously specific to your members server. Who's software do you use there? Because I'll bet dollars to donuts that what your problem is, I'll also bet it's NOT JUPITER'S FAULT but someone's software failure on your box. We all know that members servers are subject to software problems. So when you finally figure out what's wrong, I wonder if you'll start a correction thread to reverse your attack thread here.

I'd take you up on that bet Lensman but the problem is without us being their it would be easy to say it's our fault. If it's our fault I'll start a thread saying so.

Btw you may want to do your research on this one, i'm not the only customer that experienced problems today. I don't care who's at fault I'd like it fixed. Having a problem for 21 hours is a little long.

Hi Holly. I don't see those errors. Are they showing up on the page? I'm wondering if that is due to the site loading slowly that that part didn't fully load.

Hey Lensman How's this deal. If it is a problem on our end I'll start a thread re-tracting and I'll run a Jupiter Link in my sig for a month. If it's a problem on Jupiter's end our November is Gratis (FREE). Deal?

Gee, a praise thread is worth about 1/100th of a negative thread. Do you want to make it for 100 positive threads?

I'm a girl, shap. You should have automatically known I would be in the erotic story section.

It's like that on all the stories, for me. I don't think it's a time-out issue for me. The pages were loading fine sometimes, then really slow. The model list and movie clip links were painfully slow every time, though.

That was the first link I hit.

Just think- if all your customers were women, it probably wouldn't even matter if the videos didn't work. ;-}

Pass expired pretty quick...

got to download one video. Downloaded at 210k per second...

Took forever to load the members section but downloads are fast. Might be the software?

I noticed that as well. ZIps and vids are loading and downloading at decent speeds but the loading of the site is terribly slow. We looked over all our mysql and programs and everything looked fine (we spent the whole day going over them).

Pass re-enabled

Lens this post was not an attack, it was a cry for help from Jupiter and the Jupiter guys are now working on it. I'm really hoping it will be resolved soon.

You asked me to post a retraction and do this and that if the mistake is on our end. Ok. Fine. I've agreed to that. I'll always stand by my word. So if it is a Jupiter problem what will you do? You come out swinging and asking me to step up. I have, now it's your turn

Don't know if things have been fix but I'm not having problems accessing the members area.

Great site BTW

Shap,

We're also hosted on Jupiter and absolutely no slowdowns here either...

I've just checked your tour & members area and you are right , members are loading extremely slow but I think your bottle neck caused by Mysql and/or PHP code.. For example updates.php (queries all database from what I've seen) is the slowest loading page.

You may try one of those:

* add query_cache_size=128M config command to MySQL (Depending on your memory size on the box) so it'll cache those static repeating queries (like your home page or updates page) and returns cached results in much shorter time.

* Make sure all your mysql queries takes place in a single connection call

* Make sure your queries request just the used data (not something like "SELECT * FROM table")

* You should also consider Zend Performance suite if you have funds.

There are more points you can check but those were the most significant ones..

I hope this helps

Shap,

Your member's area loads extremely fast here from my home in San Diego. I tested a few zips to download and they were very fast downloading. I don't think it is a hosting issue but maybe a routing issue in your part of world.

We are with Jupiter and our sites are loading just fine.

Could it be the Ganja man fell asleep at his post? Check with the locals......LOL

j/k bud....seriously though, everything works fine here.

I know it can be frustrating when these anomalies happen.

Thanks Guys. Apparently nothing is fixed yet. We've had 3 major drops in bandwidth in the last 2 hours. The only place we get good speed seems to be within Cali.
