HOLY SHIT! Please Read, I can't believe this.

Ok, a friend of mine just icq-ed me the following quote:
"In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb" , "The third big war will begin when the big city is burning"
- Nostradamus 1654
I usually don't care about this kind of stuff, but this is really creepy. Just a coincidence? Sure, one for the X-files.
No further comment.

Don't be so naive. If you think he predicted all that stuff from watching TV shows about it, you should also read the disclaimer "this is only one view of how his words could be taken" that accompany the show. That goes for books or anything else you've read about him. If you've actually seen the words that was used in his predictions of all these specific events, they are all so vague they could mean anything. Look up your source to where "He only made 1 mistake so far." Think about it, one mistake? Look at any one of the predictions he's actually made, and see how vague his words are - you have to analyze the numerous other things that his prediction could also be associated with. Here's just one feeble example: Had the Y2K bug caused a lot of fires (let's say we weren't as prepared, and it caused some malfunctions, and shit happened), we could have used his words to show he predicted this would happen in 1999. But he didn't predict it, because it didn't happen. Nothing happened in 1999. But the TV shows would have shown that he did. They would have changed the words around so that it matched reality. You have to actually read his predictions, in his own words, to understand what I'm talking about. Not the views of TV shows, and how they depict his words. If you're going to believe them, you might as well believe the fox show that states we never made it to the moon. Of course the TV show isn't going to show the other side of the story, it would go against the whole purpose of the show to begin with. Remember the disclaimers: "this is only one view of how his words could be taken" The predictions have never been stated as fact.

You may think I'm just saying shit, but let's just think, look at the quote:

"In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb, The third big war will begin when the big city is burning"
- Nostradamus 1654

"big city is burning" - doesn't all war have fire?

"the great leader will succumb" - every fight has leaders

"Two brothers torn apart by Chaos" - chaos is war, and it takes two to fight. (As for brothers? Many nations/people/tribes have fougt each other, but at one point have been friends/allies.)

The rest of the quote could mean anything, whatever the specifics of the fight happen to be about.

The point: It would actually be difficult to name situations that do not fit the above, rather than find ones that do. They almost all do.

Perhaps I exaggerate, but do you see my point?

Not so spooky... the future and past is only an extension of who we are -- it's attached to us like an arm or a leg. How do I know? Call it instinct, intuition, or just luck... but some things aren't just coincidental -- who ever had the right to tell you that your powers of perception were limited to the here and now? Don't let society form you into a helpless fool.

I bet Nostradamus had some good weed though ehehe...

Wooooooeeeeeeeeeooooooooooooooo.... ehehe

The thing about Nostradamus' predictions is that people only remember those that came true. But what about the 1000s of his predictions that never materialize?

Nostradamus's predictions are not unlike Daniel and the book of Revelations in the bible, in that he was trying to describe visions and events that he could not possibly understand, so vagueness is expected. In Revelations, for example, you have imagery of giant insects spitting fire from the sky and land. This could be descriptions of helicopters and tanks, things that people of that era would have no other way of describing. The key words here are "could be", and it applies to all of Nostradamus's predictions as well. That vagueness leaves the door open for interpretation, and the entertainment media of today LOVES it when that door is open, they use that margin of interpretation to suit their own agendas.

However, the image of the world trade center as being "two brothers torn apart" is quite haunting no matter how you interpret it.

Let's hope this is over now, so the EMS services can help those that need it, and soon we'll hopefully find out who and what is behind all this.

The man is a genious
- btw, in my country those smartass visionaires are (or were, I don't know) allowed to show on TV! there's one calling him/herself (had a sexchange operation) Cleopatra. He/she had his/her own tv-show on one of the most popular tv-stations in country. It was funny to watch stupid people call-in, and say like:
caller:- my husband doesn't love me!
cleo./throws some beans or peas /: yes, I see some problems in your love life! If you come to a paid session with me I'll reveal you all the secrets you should know, blablabla..
And it worked! People used to give 2 or 3 monthly salaries for a 1/2 hour talk with the creep, hoping to get their life going. SHAME!
I sure do hope I won't get some black-magic spells on me for saying that

With all due respect, anyone can read into Nostradamus words since he wrote in such vague and ambiguous terms.

I agree with Juge

In ancient Greece, there was the temple of Mantis in Delphis. A woman named Pythia played the role of Mantis by doing predictions. Politicians, army leaders and rich people were visiting her temple and did donations in order to receive 1-2 sentences from her that will predict what they wanted to know. Pythia were always right, because her words had always double meanings.

Ha ha ha... that's the point. Need I say more??? The point is that you can use the words to describe anything. Two buildings? Give me a break. I could use '2 brothers' to describe anything that is in a set of 2, no matter what the contents of the set... be it nations, people, tribes, buildings, views, religions, etc.

But, danevans, I do agree with you that it is interesting. Just don't be spooked out too much by it.

If this is true, then Pythia is a genious - because of her ability to manipulate the human language, and humans themselves.

danevans, Nostradamus is probably a genious for the same reasons - not due to ability to predict.

They're checking the bible to see if the events are able to be connected using the Bible Code.

This is spooky stuff as well.

I don't know if this is a shot or not - but I'll respond as it appears to be (otherwise I apologize):

Sit back and watch what? Watch the world go down in flames in 1999, like Nostradamus predicted? Everyone believed it to be true, especially with all the y2k hype... and especially the religious people with their yelling and screaming all year about the world's end, and the "finally you'll see" shit - but where are they now? It didn't happen. He was wrong. They were wrong. Besides, a large forest fire near a city could have been described by his prediction anyway, due to it's vagueness.

The ability to predict the future, also allows the ability to change the future, and thus destroy the original prediction. How's that for logic? Isn't that what military strategists do every time they are in a war?

I'm beginning to wonder if people think anymore... or if they simply react to situations like animals. I have a friend in 4th year philosophy in university, self proclaimed smart-ass, yet, without a single original non-regurgitated spoken sentence, he is just at stupid and ignorant as the ant on tire that will be squashed when the car starts rolling.

any thoughts?
