Let's face it - it's not rocket science. You simply have to sell something at a lot more than you buy it for. The more $ you make per sale x number of sales = the more money you make.

The only difficult part is in sourcing the product, be it physical goods or not. That simply takes a little hard work and intelligence and possibly a little capital to kick start it.
Ebay guides could teach you the basics but I have never had enough caffeine in my to read them. Making good money on eBay is all about finding a product that sells fast and makes good money and then gaining a good market share on eBay for the product. You have to play dirty with your competition

What about Canadian webmasters? How do you deal with customs and whatnot? Is it still possible?

Good question. Definately a problem that I was faced with and accomplished. Concider your business a US business with a sales office in Canada. I would be stupid to say anything more

Anyone want to sell me their eBay account? You can just cancel your bank account and/or credit card on file so it's not possible to rake up a debt. Let me know what you got

Never made 20k a month on eBay but I generated some money off of it. Now I only sell something I don?t need and want a new toy (but I may change my mind).

Most of the eBay sellers make their money on shipping. If you are selling the same widget, lower the shipping cost by a few pennies. If you are selling Amazon, lower the widget cost and raise your shipping. Funny how some people will buy anything if they think they are getting a deal.

I used to make good money but the key was selling products that no one else was selling. The downside is that people catch on and start copying.

It was a game of trying of constantly find new products that would be worth selling.

High cost shipping can also add up to save lot's of eBay fees ;)

I usually list with free shipping or low shipping though since the customer doesn't have to worry about extra hidden costs and will appreciate it

I think that e-bay is really flooded with things. and with some of the scammers out there like that kid that sold the photo of a tv, it is not worth messing with.

An example would be selling ebay auction templates.....

Sell them for $1 and include one month membership to a site that has lots of other templates to download and perhaps a support forum. Then just rebill as normal with paypal.

Remember u can sell one template as many times as you like.

Talk to the manufacturers, it's the only way. Also, in many many cases, you're going to have to be prepared to buy 5,000+ units. I have yet to come across a single "wholesaler" or "dropshipper" that was worth a shit without going through the manufacturer.

What do you need to know? It's a platform for meeting China-based suppliers for whatever goods you are interested in.

Step 1: you research the products you are looking for

Step 2: you select from a list of suppliers

Step 3: get in touch with the suppliers. Arrange for shipping. Also arrange for large lots or partial lots.

Use a secondary email acct because Chinese/Asian spammers harvest that site for spam leads.

I did go through it but it just seemed beyond me...I can't really explain it *shrugs*
I'd really like to use it, though. I really enjoyed selling some things I got cheap from eBay and I wouldn't mind being a gypsy for a summer

Wow, this thread is old.

I am a year out of selling anything on eBay. I bet it is a lot harder now (isn't everything?). They key is still how low you buy. That only really matters until someone buys lower.

If I were to do it again, I probably wouldn't.

As I was taught by a friend, if you sell peanuts, you make peanuts. Don't go the way of the high volume, low priced shippables. The work will drive you crazy and the fees as a percentage of sales will kill you.

I also had deals with local manufacturers and never paid for anything up front.

There IS money on ebay. However there is also big money in traffic online.

Remember the story of the blogger who made over $1million from google ads alone in the first 9 months. Insane. I prefer to pursue the traffic opportunities.
