Anyone here ever make more than $20K a month off EBAY?

I'm not talking scams and scam products, I'm talking about selling niche products built in one state and selling it to the rest of the country. I'm pleasantly surprised to know that shit I buy in Hawaii or Seattle get snapped up for 5 to 10 times more than my cost by people in Ebay.

My income from Ebay grew exponentially and then it hit a plateau. I'd like to know if any other adult webmasters use Ebay as a suplemental revenue stream.

Speak up, Ebayers! :thumbsup

SlutFinder 11-06-2004 11:21 PM

AndrewKanuck 11-06-2004 11:21 PM

Understatement of the century.

It still makes me laugh out loud to find out people still bust their ass on crappy TGP traffic yielding a negative return when they could put the same amount of effort into ebay and drive Porsches after 3 months.:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

KRL 11-06-2004 11:25 PM

Sold a collectors car that was owned by Judy Garland on ebay for $50K one month.

stocktrader23 11-06-2004 11:29 PM

I've done $20,000 to $30,000 per month on two different occasions.

What's an example of something you bought from in one state and sold for 5-10 times more to the rest of the country?

If it's large items and you're moving some of them I can see it making money, but if it's small relatively cheap items you're going to have to sells tons of them like in a general retail store to make any notable profit. Am I thinking about this all wrong?

I'd love to share it but I wouldn't want my income to drop 50%
That's like saying people make money using Yahoo Interests and showing you how to subscribe to the interests on the left and update your shit so your profiles (with your link) always shows at the top and always shows online.:1orglaugh

Yes.

You'd buy a ream of paper for a 400% mark up (and do), but I doubt you'd buy a new workstation at that mark up level.

Margins are always lower on big ticket items.

Mike33,
People who profit the most on ebay are experts on antiques, and such items.

Don't expect to make 20k a month selling diet pills or laser pointers :rasta

You're right. But I guess you'd have to sell a quite a lot of reams of paper to make significant coin. And is there really so many such items that can only be found in one state and not in another?

Happy to hear you guys are doing well with Ebay. Hey, whatever works. If you found a way to do it, keep on:thumbsup

The problem is that these "drop-shippers" and "wholesalers" are usually selling shit to you at a cost I like to call "retail".

Wait, this place doesn't even do that. Am I missing something or is gegy.com no more than an affiliate program?

Edit: Man, this place has some vague documentation. I guess I can choose my own markup.

Can you give us an example? That doesn't make much sense, unless you're marketing a very specific service or high maintenance product.

Back in 98/99 I made 20k a month selling Sports Memoribilia:thumbsup

Without eBay, I would be living on the street. Or worse, working at a real job.

Matt 26z 11-08-2004 01:24 PM

Drop shipping opportunities are some of the biggest B2B scams online.

WATCH OUT!

They may say you are getting it at wholesale prices, but in reality you are paying close to retail.

Most of the time you'll have trouble selling these items online for what you paid for them.

The real key here is to get as close to the manufacturer as possible. Most of the products you buy from these drop shippers have passed through MULTIPLE hands and thus have had MULTIPLE markup's before reaching you.

tranza 11-08-2004 01:31 PM

I have never sold anything on Ebay...

I am an eBay master. Too bad my accounts got suspended for stuipid cock fuck reasons. For $1000 I will spend a couple hours on ICQ or on the phone explaining to anyone interested how to make $20,000 a month on eBay with minimal investment.

reynold 11-08-2004 01:56 PM

A lot of people are rich because of ebay.

No - you're really not. A true 'master' wouldn't have had his/her account suspended in the first place even for 'cock fuck reasons'. The few living that close to the edge that are any good would have new accounts waiting in the sidelines.

Do you recommend any Ebay books that would be of value to someone starting out?

Nope but then I'm a million miles from claiming to be any kind of expert. The wife runs a few online mainstream sites that use ebay and does fairly well from it but no books were used.

Let's face it - it's not rocket science. You simply have to sell something at a lot more than you buy it for. The more $ you make per sale x number of sales = the more money you make.

The only difficult part is in sourcing the product, be it physical goods or not. That simply takes a little hard work and intelligence and possibly a little capital to kick start it.

Nismo 11-08-2004 02:22 PM

I've just started on ebay after months of researching. So far things look pretty good.

It's all just common sense - have a product or products & market it well. try to be unique.

DrewKole 11-08-2004 02:31 PM

Can anyone suggest good places to search for wholesale items?

Poker stuff, entertainment, etc. etc. ?

Kristian 11-08-2004 02:32 PM

There USED to be a big market in used underwear. :Graucho

Noone with common sense would just give you their source. That's something you'd have to find for yourself. :2 cents:

definately not what i was expecting

products are like $1 cheaper than the average website.. after ebay fees from selling things like this, you'd be losing money

Oh don't worry, I have my backup accounts and you cannot be a true master unless you were suspended from eBay and have hands on experience with their security system tactics to detect your back up accounts and therefore create more backup accounts that don't get detected. There are only a couple ways for them not to detect them and they to be paranoid is to be safe. Plus I am getting the other accounts back up as soon as their lacking customer service team gets to my fax.
