I still use the simple program WS_FTP95 which is free for personal use, but Smart FTP is also freeware and has more features.

Win SCP is the best ever.
it doesnt do ftp, only sftp and scp but most servers have ssh on it and therefore are supported.

it may only be good for geeks like me but its the best software i've found.
