Weirdest thing happened today.... guy from a long ago LD relationship was in town for the day on biz. Hadn't talked to him in like 4 years or more. Met way back in '94 on Compuserve chat.. moved to IRC in '95. Were pretty hot 'n heavy..well as far as LD can be. He finally found someone local to him (Edmonton) and she was insanely jealous of how close we were (even as friends).

Anywhooo... Only phone number he could find for me was the number I list for whois info which is a line I never answer.. doesn't even ring in my house. I rarely check the voicemail on it and in fact the message says so and to email me. A few days ago, I had to plug in my old fax machine and did so on that line. Sit down at my desk this afternoon and the fax starts ringing. I figured 'no one I wanna talk to'. But it got me thinking about that voicemail. So I decided to check it and clear it all out.

I'll be dang if there wasn't a message from this guy. I called him back.. he was down around where he thought my house should be trying to track me down. Had just about given up when I called him. I scooted out the door and met him.. got to chat for a couple of hours before he headed for the airport. Exchanged phone numbers and email addresses and claims he'll be in touch.

Now I'm sitting here wondering where if anywhere this might go... We used to tease back then about fate and kizmet. Makes you really wonder sometimes. Just strange how circumstances were just so. If the fax hadn't been plugged into that line I would have never known about the call.

yeah that is crazy stuff...i had an old girlfriend bump into me in an aol chat room the other day had i not logged into a real old aol account i would never have talked to her again either...but yeah you always wonder about the ones from our past

No.. they never married. Lived together for until just over a year ago.

He still wears a gold chain I bought him in like 1997. Now whether he dug it out because he was coming here today and was going to try to look me up, I'll never know. I still have every card, note, gift, etc. He ever sent to me.

Nice twists to your story. Personally I have this theory that if you look back on the important relationships in your life, there are always these elements of chance and fate that spring up, I think its more related to the mind trying to associate some larger meaning to the relationship that makes you wonder about those things, that and the fact, that all of life is random. I mean how many meetings/relationships spring up from concrete meetings, etc.

Anyway its 5:20AM and I'm babbling so dont mind me.

This was IRC back in 96 and 97. I haven't been back to the undernet channel I used to run since then. Someone told me there is still a channel of the same name there. Just all the people have changed.

That's an awesome story Persian Kitty. I really think there's more to stuff like this than just dumb luck. Call it ESP, intuition, kismet or a little birdy.... the label doesn't really matter.... There are too many "coincidences" that have happened to me for me to really believe they were coincidences.

I'd just like to be able to keep in touch with him. Missed the long talks and sharing experiences etc. I'm not planning on anything..certainly don't know where his head is. I'll just be happy with him being some part of my life.

That's exactly right.. with sex out of the way you can really get to know someone fast chatting online.

I met my husband this way.. on undernet, it was so much fun, kind of like a dream you went back to every day.

We finally got together after chatting about 7 months. It was kind of strange meeting him, it's never like you expect it to be even if you've seen a picture, but when he hugged me and I heard that voice, I knew I was home

He died a few months ago.. but the 8 years we spent together was awesome.

I definitely advise meeting someone online, after all.. it's the personality you have to live with after the initial physical attraction

PK, although a lot of people start off with an imaginary perfect life & glorified stories, someone always comes along to change that for them.

My personal opinion is that once that stage is over & done with, people open up and give more of themselves online than they do in person - reason being is that it's such a longshot & so simple to end, that they'll risk putting themselves out for critique or judgement for that slim hope that they'll find someone who accepts them for who they are.

I met my husband online & we've been married for over 5 years. It's the best relationship I've had - no fear of being judged, objective criticism & acceptance is genuine. I don't know how many online stories have succeeded, but of the stories I do hear, most will say the same - online relationships (friendships or more) turn out to be strong bonds & genuine if the two people check their facades at the door.

Although I don't know you, I've followed your bits & pieces that you do share online & I can't wait to hear that you've found the man that completes your puzzle and loves you for you and not necessarily your way of living or what you've accumulated. Best wishes on finding him!

About 12-13 years ago I had a pretty hot summer long relationship with a woman I worked with. She got a different job and moved out of the state and a few weeks later I moved to a different state to persue some stuff of my own. I hadn't seen or spoken to her in about 6-7 years. Then I came home for christmas and ran into her in a store. She was, like me, still living out of state but had come home for christmas. Just lucky that we happened to be in the same store at the same time. We talked for a few then met for dinner on new years night and had one last roll in the sheets. It was a very cool night and for me I enjoyed talking to her, see how her life and gone and what she was doing as much as sleeping with her again.
