Are you for or agaisnt the death penalty?

For or agaisnt the death penalty?

Personally, I am agaisnt it.

I think proven killers and murderers should get life in jail.

No TV, no cigarettes, no luxuries, just a matress and a toilet. They are fucking animals.

Killing them is giving them the easy way out. Let them suffer in jail for their crimes.

I'm Forgainst.

But seriously..I think we've seen far too many mistakes happen within our judicial system.

For anyone to still support the death penalty in light of that is beyond logic.

And of course the argument will turn to.."what if *fill in the blank*" when that can be turned right back on those who say that...what if it were you wrongly convicted of murder and on deathrow? How would you feel about the death penalty then?

The way they do it now is too soft.

Stick them in a cell for the rest of their lives and throw away the key.

Against. I think that if it's wrong for citizens to murder, then it is wrong for the government to do so, as well. I don't believe that anyone has the right to take the life of another human being, except perhaps if someone is physically threatening your life. I wouldn't expect someone to stand by and allow someone to kill them when they're standing there with a gun pointed at them. But killing someone after the fact is premeditated murder.

And after watching The Life of David Gale, I see even more clearly that our judicial system is too flawed to allow for a death penalty, anyway. Too many innocent people are convicted of crimes on a regular basis to risk killing and innocent. And the very fact that the death penalty is usually only sought for people that plead innocent, and they often seek only life in prison if you ADMIT you did it, makes it even more ridiculous.

ya but the problem with that is the prison gets over crowed and so they let criminals out or they need more tax money to pay for a new prison

why waste money on proven killers? i think it should be expanded to violent rapes and attempted murder. the process for the death penalty needs to be changed tho so that mistakes are eliminated.

Personally I like to see those that comit crimes suffer.

Do not kill them but have them lamant in prison for the rest of there lives. We all die eventually expediting it is only making it an easier sentence...

There is no sufferage in a quick death...

Doesn't help anything just brings on more violence, but fuck it fry em, none of this human shit though, really sick of that BS.

I'm for it, but more so than what is done now (if you don't follow: I don't think enough fuckers fry each day), things won't change here so none of this half ass shit, with fuckers on death row waiting for ever and half the states on board and the other half not, all or nothing.

If being against it actually mattered I would be against it.

i'm sure that's as clear as mud to most, any way cheers time for another round.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do agree that they should be ALOT more strict about it. A few years ago my former landlord flipped his truck and broke his back. He's damned lucky he didn't kill anyone. He totalled his truck, got put out of work for several months and all he got was he lost his license. No jail time at all and this was his third or fourth offence. His family suffered horribly because of his idiocy. He lost his business. First he was out of work because of his broken back, then when he started to get better he couldn't work because he couldn't drive.

I think DUI should carry a mandatory 5-10 year prison sentence for a first offence and 15 years without parole for second and third. Then if they're still capable of driving after 35-40 years in prison and they do it again, they should rot there.

I still remember driving on a Family vacation to FL, back in the 80's when the gov decided to care about our safety, seeing a sign.

"I'll buckle up if Bundy does"

I still get a laugh out of it.

No, I think lushes and dopers need to get a fucking gun and put a bullet through their own temple. Just have them kill themselves before they kill more people.

At least then I won't have to deal with the fucking idiot who's driving like a maniac on his way to get some fucking dope.

Maybe it'll save someone the pain of being accused they "don't care because you're not taking me to the house".

Maybe it'll save someone the pain of watching a girlfriend put the business end of a crack pipe in their mouth and smoke it.

Maybe it'll save someone the pain of hearing about one of his friends cutting an upside down cross into his wrists and forearms after he smoked a bowl, dropped some acid, and shot some boosted ice. That person thought he needed to cleanse himself of demons.

The fucking DRUG lUSERS need to get a fucking clue.

Those who should a history of pathological violence should be removed from society once and for all. It's simply a matter of social hygiene.

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0777460.html .. not many civilized countries that still violates the right to life. The US is up there with tons of 3rd world and muslim countries...

from amnesty:
"Each year since 1997 the United Nations Commission on Human Rights has passed a resolution calling on countries that have not abolished the death penalty to establish a moratorium on executions. The latest resolution, adopted in April 2004, was co-sponsored by 76 UN member states, one more than in 2003 and the highest number ever."

Belarus and Uzbekistan are the only countries in Europe and Central Asia still carrying out executions...

the US just seemes out of tune with rest of the western world. Course, easy for me to say living in the best country in the world..

Exactly, why waste money killing them... Check the facts!

You can also do more searching on this issue. A few days ago someone posted links to Government sites which verified the above link.

Once the system is completely perfect, and we can conclude with absolute certainty every case without ever making a mistake... then maybe I'll change my mind and support the death penalty. In the meantime, it's among the most evil laws on the books.

I voted "yes" in this poll, but have to agree a brutal time in jail would be better. Unfortunately, our current jail system breeds better criminals rather than really punishing them / rehabilitating them.

Against.

Studies have shown that it costs taxpayers more money to keep the death penalty due to all the litigation preventing the convicted from being executed for their crime.

I'd rather save that money and give them life sentences without parole where they can live the rest of their lives in utter misery and perhaps get ass-raped a few times in prison. To me, that's more painful than a quick death at the hands of the government.

Edit: And it's not like the death penalty is a deterrant for people who commit murder. Homicide in this country is higher than ever.
