I normally just buy any PC that looks good and has enough RAM to run Photoshop, but my sons are serious gamers and they wanna get their hands on "The Sims2".

I heard on the grapevine that "The Sims2" is quite hungry on the graphics side, and requires a high end graphics card and processor.

Can anyone recommend a good national or even online retailer in the UK to buy such a beast?

True, but in most cases I have found that I have saved about $1k or so building it myself.

Hmm... I don't know of one..
It's not that hard though, if you have basic knowledge of computer hardware (i.e. having the ability to install a graphics card) then it isn't hard at all.
I'm pretty sure all motherboards come with a manual, so that should help.

If you don't know what you are doing, then it may be best to either find someone that does or get one prebuilt.
The first time I build a computer years ago, I forgot to use the risers on the motherboard.
Shorted out the board and cost me $200

I replace my PC every 18 months and they have been excellent. Good quality builds, good customer service and they build the PC to your needs. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
