Lincoln -- he preserved the Union (although many people, even the ones that framed the Constitution, would agree that states had the right to secede)

Washington -- he could have easily become an American king but he didn't choose to. His selflesness and his humanity prevented the US from becoming yet another dictatorship

FDR -- love him or hate him, he brought the modern Welfare state (yeah, yeah I know, it sucks... but its the reality) to the US without the wholesale adoption of Euro style socialism

George Washington and James Garfield.

1. Neither wanted to be president, which made them worthy.

2. Neither of them accomplished shit, which means they didn't fuck shit up. Washington treated the presidency as nearly entirely figurehead. Garfield died before he could do anything.

Definitely Clinton. Bad husband maybe... but who cares!?!? He was a great president for the USA, and well respected around the world.
