If you have to ask GOFUCKYOURSELF these questions, then you most certainly are NOT ready to be going into this line of business.

Rob - I use Sisoft Sandra for most things.

http://www.sisoftware.net/

Good benchmarking program that can pinpoint memory and bus problems when you know the software.

The fastest, easiest way to diagnose a pc is experience. Each component has a way of acting when it's "bad".

The fastest, easiest way to get that experience (and to diagnose parts) is to keep a stock of very widely used, highly compatible parts to swap out for testing. Software tests can take a LONG time - much more time efficient to swap parts, as the time you spend running one deep diagnostic test you could swap nearly everything.

Ram and cables are the fastest and easiest to start with. Then CPU, powersupply and mobo.

Start working on and building your own machines, then for other people and then the general public. I was building and doing repairs before I got into the net stuff. It's not a bad living.

Worked at a shop when I was in college. He is right, experience is the best tool you can use. Starting a computer up and looking around and knowing what to look for is the best way.

I would think so.

I do repairs, been doing repairs from the 1980's and have yet 2 see a diagnostic cd, or diagnostic floppy. Was no cd's when I started.

Don't do many repairs now, but from what I see and some friends I have helped of late, you could make some good money.

Better know how 2 get rid of virus, trojan's, spyware, toolbars 2 name a few.

Some real nasty shit out there.

ok. to clarify, i have experience running an escort service.

with any type of "agency" or service based business, you need a methodology, not just an ad hoc approach.

i know alot of people on here know alot about computers and maybe there might be a chance there is someone else who makes side money repairing computers...

i will not be the one repairing the computers..

- Going to open a computer repair business but not doing the repairs yourself
- Looking for genie-in-a-bottle software to run on computers that need repair

Fuck man, you have the business model of 11 year old. Make a poster in Word
and put it on every street lamp in your neighborhood:

TEEN DICKBONE WILL FIX YOUR COMPUTER
NO FRIGGIN" EXPERIENCE BUT WILLING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY ANYWAY
I DON"T FIX THEM BUT SOMEBODY ELSE IS INVOLVED
I FIND THE FIXING PROGRAMS AND OWN THE BUSINESS
I CAN FIND SHIT IN GOOGLE SO I KNOW WHAT I"M DOING

i have been doing computer repairs for almost 7 years now, and I have never needed a cd

how would you use that cd if the machine didn't even boot up...

don't depend on others to tell you what is wrong....you should have the experience and knowledge to do it yourself

i can usually analyze the most severe problem within 20 minutes...just takes knowing each problem first hand and it's symptoms
