Stay away from Candid Hosting

Because of a couple of retarded people that couldnt care less about their clients, I'm going to lose all the trades on my TGP, a LOT of submitted galleries, maybe some partner accounts and a lot of time.

Over the past year at Candid Hosting, I got used to the downtime and the terrible support. I hosted a small fraction of my sites there, mainly TGP submissions, so I didnt care that much. I would never chose them again, but I didnt leave them either.

Yesterday, all my sites at candid were down. I thought it was just another problem with the servers, but they never got back up. So I mailed them, and they told me my account was suspended, but whoever knew the reason was already gone. So I had to wait until now to find out the reason, while my trades and galleries were offline.

To be continued...

You are right it is very typical for us to turn off clients with violations on their sites that they have been warned about for months.

I think we both know I was talking about the downtime and poor customer service.

So today, Mark who sold me the hosting and is always trying to cover for their srew ups, tells me there was a DMCA violation in one of my domains. A jenna lewis sex tape domain. Ok, I understand that, I pulled those links a long time ago when Celebs Unzipped aske me to, and I dont care if they shut the site down, it's just sitting there without a purpose. And the only jenna stuff there is a banner that was left behind withou a link to any site. So, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, take that down, but please get my TGP and galleries on the other domain back up.

No, they cant do that, says Mark. What? They dont trust you now, you were warned and you put the site back up.

Ok, now this is starting to really bother me. I never got a warning. Mark says they warned me back in July by mail and phone. I am SURE I never got a phonecall, I and dont remember any email. I didnt took the site down, I just removed the sponsor link, because the sponsor got that warning and asked the affiliates to pull the links.

So now Mark cant help me anymore, and I have to explain to candid that I never got a warning, I never pulled the site and put it back up, I dont even care about that site, and I just want my other domain online.

To be continued...

That's the exact time I have been with you, a little over a year. During that time I had to post on GFY a couple a times, so Mark would see it, ICQ me, and try to solve the problems. Mailing support was never a reasonable option. But I'll get to you soon, Rebekah, you are the icing on the cake.

The final observation by Mark leaves me little hope to get my site back up.

"Ok, I just plead the case but I was told that since there is no way that we can be compliant with the legal recourse of the situation other than to discontinue the hosting that the decision cannot be changed. "

So they never heard anything from me and the decision cant be changed, should I bother explaining? Yeah, sure let's send them a nice mail, I'm sure they can understand. So I start explaining...

[email protected]
------
My account tits-club.com was canceled yesterday without warning. All my sites are offline and I never got a warning to fix whatever needed to be fixed or a message saying my account was canceled and I should be looking for another host. Whatever I had done wrong, this is no way to do business. I?m hosting some of my sites with you for over one year, I upgraded my account during that time.

I was told there was a copyright complaint back in July. I never got it. I understand a mail was sent to me, but I never got it, I never replied to it, I never removed anything from the site because of it. However the complaint was not complete and you decided to keep the site online. I had nothing to do with that, it was your decision. At the same time, the sponsor I was promoting got the same complaint and asked me to remove the link, so I did. The only material left was a banner without a link to any video or website.

And now you get another complaint, this time it?s complete, and you cancel my account and take down all my sites without warning, because ?I was warned before and I put the copyrighted material online again?. That would be fair, but I never got the first warning, I never took the site down, and I never put it back up. I ignored the whole process until yesterday. I don?t care if you cancel that domain, even without a warning, and I understand you have to take it down. But I cant accept you take down all my sites with it.

You say you canceled me because you cant risk I?ll do it again, as I did before. Again, I never got the first email, I don?t intend to put that content online again, I have no reason to do it. I removed the link, I would have removed everything if I was asked to. What I need to be online, is my original domain. I?ve been using it to submit galleries for over one year. I don?t have everything backed up, so I cant just move it to another server. I have trades dying, galleries not showing, partner accounts in risk, and a lot of work ahead of me If I have to move it.

Please allow me to keep the hosting account and at least put my domain tits-club.com back up as soon as possible. Whatever your final decision may be, I expect a quick reply so I can get my site online one way or the other.

I'll be happy to post our icq chat and also happy to post your support ticket where you state you"ignored" our emails about the violation.

We have an actual legal department that handles these violations and takes them very seriously. I am sorry that I cannot apologize to you about following the law!

You were warned, you chose to ignore it, you were turned off. End of story.

I won a year of hosting from candid and they treat me like a paying customer. Emails answered in a 1/2 hour or less, can get someone on icq no problem...etc. Candid will get more of my business in the future... The service is great!

Maybe they have a different policy for clients who dont pay for the hosting at the end of every month.

I have hosted with Candid for several years and have never had any real issues with them. There tech support has gotten 10 times better than what it use to be before the new ownership.

They have to protect themselves as well from any legal action. They gotta look out after themselves as well.

I went up and saw the data center not too long ago and was impressed with the way they have things running now.

Okay, let's play this game. When was the last time we've had downtime? When was the last time we've had poor customer service? Since the new management, things have only gotten better. I'll be the first to admit that with the old management, there were issues. Pretty big issues at that. I'm willing to bet you haven't hosted with us since the new management. Infact, I'm willing to bet you've never hosted with us.

So far we've stayed up, without issue, during two hurricanes. Even had staff here. That's more than I can say for 3 other local hosting companies.

One went without power, even though they claimed they had backup generators. Another had flooding, which resulted in downtime.

Our generator will keep us up for roughly 4 days at full load - and we're only at about half load right now. I, along with 2 other techs spent most of the day before the hurricane double, even tripple checking the generators, A/C units, and everything else to make sure we were going to be alright.

Hurricanes will throw you a curveball, no matter how prepared you think you are. Us, along with the other local hosting companies thought we were prepared. Guess what? We stayed up.

What's the point? Just switch to a new host, follow THEIR rules to the letter and this should never happen to you again.

I have never been a customer of Candid. I know better.

I have helped several customers move their sites from Candid because of the support (or lack thereof) and downtime.

So, cut your losses, and find a new host. You aren't being forced to stay with them.. to you they suck, to others they may be great, to each his own, go find the host that will make you happy.

We had a customer that had some billing issues, we shut them down, they flipped out on the boards talking shit about us. A year later he is hosting with us again, and everyone is happy.. he apologized for being a jackass, and understood why we decided to shut his account off.

Maybe you will feel the same about Candid in a year, maybe you won't.. but understand bitching about them here usually doesn't change people's minds.. It just causes drama, everyone's blood pressure goes up, and nothing is solved.

He's going to have fun finding a host now that everyone knows he has legal violations and likes to run to the boards and "tattle".

Excellent post from Twintone. Some people love us, some people hate us. Honestly given some of the past problems I can understand some of the haters. I was here during the bad time and it was hard on us as well as some clients. I am happy that I am still here now to experience first hand the changes and re-emergence of Candid Hosting. The growing pains are over.

Just switch? What about dozens of galleries that are down and trades that are dead because I got no warning?

I read the mail about the copyright problem today for the first time, and I have no problems removing the content, even removing the domain from my account. I have no reason to keep it there.

As you will see, I tried everything to keep it out of the boards. But after ICQ, email, ICQ again, and being told by an ignorant and unwilling to help person that they wont change their decision, I have nothing left to do. I am moving my stuff, and I am telling everyone I can about the way I was treated there. I am not doing it to change their minds, I tried that privately.

This would never be an issue for me. I have every single page I've ever put up on the net backed up on my hard drive. All I have to do is upload an entire site + galleries to a new host and I'm bang bang back in business. You need to start doing the same.

Cut your losses and get on with it. You've made your point here, candid=bad, now it's time to move on, no?

Why do you keep ignoring everything I say? I already said I'm NOT looking for a new host, I'm using 3 at the time and I am already moving my site to a dedicated server, I wanted to avoid that because it means losing a lot of work and wasting a lot of time. In the long run it will be better, but right now I'm pissed, I didnt need this shit. And I dont need any legal violations, go fuck yourself, you got the letter in July (you admit you read it, I didnt) , and you allowed the site to be up until you got a second letter that was done right. You allowed the site to be up all this time, I didn know of any problems and I didnt care about that site anyway.

Live and learn... my gallery submission process changed a lot in one year, so I dont have everything ready to upload, my mistake.
And I just hope I'm not getting banned in some TGP or losing a partner account right now.

I guess the moral is: You can host with them and have no problems, obviously. But if you do have a problem, they will work against you and not with you. They will have no problem to call you a criminal and shut down everything you have without warning.

Look I'm not really a fan of Candid from all the stories I hear they are not a good host at all. But in this situation it looks as if Tuga is a cheater (of sorts), and ignored warnings, and tried to play off the "Bad English" as an excuse. Tuga you used illegal content (and maybe other issues) and you were warned, and ignored the warnings? ....time for you to move along and cause problems for someone else

In review of my logs I can't see where I ever mentioned trust. What I said is that Candid Hosting does not want to be liable should you repeat the DMCA violation.

Hmm, I don't think that either the person who took the time to process the DMCA complaint or the court system would refer to this as an inconvenience.

LOL, anyone who has dealt with me knows that I try to monitor my ICQ at least 16 to 18 hours a day, you never had to press the GFY Drama button to get my attention. As to the ticketing system, all of your tickets that I just reviewed were resolved the same day as you submitted the support request. I could have missed one. Would you care to post one that took a long time to resolve so that I can respond to it specifically?

Exactly, you never used the word trust but that's what it means when they wont activate my account because I may put the content up again, when I already said I wont do it and I have nothing to gain by doing it.

I already said I got used to some downtime, yesterday I waited a few hours before I sent the mail because I'm used to it now and then. I had nothing critical there, so I didnt move. I have a lot of domains hosted on other servers. It wasnt worth the trouble.

It was just a banner, I dont think it was doing much damage to anyone. And I was talking about the inconvenience to CH, not the person who made the complaint.

I am sorry I dont keep records on every mail I sent for the past year. And my ICQ list is a mess, so I remeber a couple of times I decided to post on GFY for help, and you would hit me up, just like you did TODAY after I sent a support request YESTERDAY and they told me the people who could help me were out. And NOONE came in and got back to me. Just you, after the post on GFY. So that should be enough to prove my point.

OK, here is the deal. I just had your legal sites turned back on. You have 3 hours to pull your content.

We're not out to put you out of business we're just protecting our network.
