![]() Could you imagine people collecting and restoring a 1992 Ford Taurus or 1987 Hyundai Excel?
Will these cars ever be considered classics like cars from the 50s and 60s are?

Mostly not, products that are mass produced really dont have much chance of becoming classic. If they do become classics, it will be in 100 years, not 30-40

viper for sure mustangs went the way of the camaro long ago...only cool if your in high school. The new GTO is uninspiring. Pontiac couldn't even come up with a new GTO, so they bought the car from an Australian maker and put "pontiac plastic" on it. BMW E39 series (97-2003 5 series) will be a classic Porsche 911, Mercedes SL55, Plymouth Prowler, Ford Lightning, 350Z / G35 etc for sure |

cars today are throwaway. . . . as is most EVERYTHING we buy.
Just think of the antiques people collect now. . . In the future they'll be collecting AOL cd-roms and all the other shit we're chucking in those landfills

![]() But GM owns Holden and they just put the Pontiac name on the Monaro. So it was technically already a GM car. http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/...?modelid=12001 |

I think there will definitely be some classics.
-Porsches always seem to become classics (with the exceptions of the 928s/944s = ew). -Vettes -E36 M3s, and E39 M3s -FB/FC/FD RX7s (although I may be a bit biased on this one - but they are beautiful cars, and there were only 3 model years of the 3rd gen produced in the states. They still look better than alot of modern cars, imo) -A few Audis... S4s/RS4s, RS6s -MkIV Supras -Vipers of course -BMW 8 series (already are, imo) |
