I'm watching The Bridges of Madison County right now...
...eating my pizza (which finally arrived), and I'm wondering: what the hell do women like about movies like this?
There's no humor, no action, no profound thoughts... just a bunch of whiny people having a really hard time dating. What do women like about this type of movies?

I think I figured it out. It's like a really long, really boring soap opera. And everybody knows the women among us love those for some reason. Now, all we have to do is figure out that reason...

Last middle-aged woman I met I got drunk with and fucked, and I had to climb out of the first story window in the morning when her husband came home earlier than expected. (quick note to all male GFY-ers that are 40+ and married: yes, your wife is probably fucking around with guys in their early 20s. sucks, don't it?)

See, that's why I don't watch movies like that. I end up nattering through the whole movie, mouthing off the characters and driving everyone else nuts. I have a friend who loves those. But that same friend had trouble keeping up to the plot in the Bourne Identity.

I know it sounds strange but I consider me as a movie expert. Its my hobby and I love movies. This piece of shit is not my favourite but its no good to call it shit just because you can't find any action in there.Anyway I am asuming that you must be quite young and this is not a movie for people younger then 40.You will understand it 1 day for sure

I didn't call the movie shit - yet. I said I couldn't understand why people watched it. The reason for that is not that there's "no action in it", but that there no humor, no action, no profound thoughts... and nothing else I can see. Calling this movie art is ridiculous. It's a melodramatic, whiny, cliche, boring, unoriginal little nothing. It isn't filmed particularly well, the acting is good but not a redeeming quality, the story isn't much better than the average romance novel... Simply put, it's a typical romantic drama with above average production values and a painfuyl lack of originality. Art is the stuff made by directors like Kubrick, Eisenstein, Lynch, Kurosawa, Godard, Fellini, Renoir, Pasolini, Bergman, Welles, Kitano, Bresson, von Trier, etc. NOT stuff like this. It's mighty fine that you consider yourself a movie expert, but if you call stuff like this art it clearly shows that you still have quitea bit of expertise to gain. As for the age comment... I strongly doubt that when I get older, I will start to appreciate mediocre crap.
