Ok.. Last example!! *lol* I knew some webmasters who were in the US. For some.. hell knows why reason, they had the attention of "intel services" - tho they had no "connections" to anything/anyone that had anything to do with "intell". They were just plain webmasters :-) This was before 9/11 times. The day came when they were departing the US and "intell" advised them that they would be met in their home country by some security officers when they got off the plane. Kind of em :-) They arrived back home and a couple of their own "intell" officers met them. They had a coffee and a 15 minute chat - there was some "amusement" about "crazy US intelligence" and they all shook hands and went on their way. Tell ya.. definately a police state in action!!! :winkwink: |

I had it explained to me by one of their officers in the presence of four other people - you gotta be in disneyworld!! It must have been Mickey Mouse that ripped the mail open on a daily basis!! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |

BTW.. Instead of talking crap... take a lesson out of that to cover your own ass and your "offshore bank accounts"/corps - which of course, you don't have or even think of having :1orglaugh |

Maybe you have not even bothered to stop and think for 1 second, what it woudl involve for the US Government to open and read/review your mail for "intell", the warrants that would be required, the legal process, the people involved, the paper trail etc etc? Are you trying to convince us there was a CIA sponsored "Operation Webby" to read your mail because Bush said so? Holy shit! You are completely insane. |
Please feel free to get the last word in, while i take my wife out to dinner and for a walk on the beach in our horrible and oppressive police state. If i spot any black sedans following us or helicopters, i will be sure to get with you and compare notes!

The good outweighs the bad by far. Typing about shit on a message board about how fucked up the government is, is just a waste of time. So either move, or take proactive steps to change things. Get out and vote, send letters to congress, or if you think you can do the job better, run for some goverment office yourself. Thats whats great about the free country we live in here. If you're unhappy, you are free to leave, or do something about it to make it better. |

If you could read - there was a reason given for opening the mail. The reason was stated above. No.. it was not Mickey Mouse or the next door neighbor that ripped the mail open. As for Bush coming to get me.. Whoa hang on! *lol* This shit all occurred prior to 9/11 - it is not something new. I'd hate to think what is happening now. OK asshole! Another example of a "police state". I sent.. under $500 to a friend in the US to get some stuff for me. That sparked a series of "incidents" which showed how fucking stupid things are. This person was actually "cuffed" outside school while collecting kids and taken into custody. As explained to me later, this person was "not going to play time wasting games" with the law and refused to discuss the issue with them. After a while it had to be made clear to them that they had "cuffed" one of their own - a "US govt officer"! This was the person I had sent some funds to. I never knew anything about this till after it was over else I'd be on the phone "explaining" exactly what I sent and why and accompanying this with a few "fuck off's". There is ... among the shit and cockups.. good reason for "security" and is understandable currently. But this is more than a farce - it's fucking ludicrous! It's not of my biz and I am not asking/telling, but I know that "incident" fucked up some other stuff for that person and screwed up months of inquiries/work. This ain't some crap "story" - it is a fact of life and happening this year. Don't bullshit me with still more stupid "angles" on neighbors ripping mail open etc - It's too pathetic!! Get into the real world for just one second!! :1orglaugh |

Very good points. Only the problems with andrew lasted months. There were as many people killed after the storm as there were during. The sad thing is that then the families sued the cities for allowing them to go back to an unsafe area. The police are there for a reason. And while is may suck to be away from what is left of your home. you have to use the laws for what they were made for . And that is to help keep general peace. I say that the guy was an ass for trying to take his children into an area like that. |

I've already said I have moved - I have no wish to live in the US. I have many friends there and it just "grinds" to see shit happening there. It is not my place to be "proactive" and change things - this is a matter for folks living there. However, when actions of the current government "intrude" on my space - I'll make it known. |

I wonder what people would be saying if the cops had let this guy through and he stepped on some downed powerlines and died.
Or if when others saw the police letting him through, they too decided to go home and salvage shit and all of a sudden there were 10 dead people. Of course, everyone would be bitching about the police yet again. |

btw... In casual conversation with one of your countrymen - I actually gave you mention :-) I explained I was open to your views and that you have apparently served your country well etc... and just wanted to give the benefit of doubt. I also mentioned there was some fetish about "patriotism" whether the subject matter is good or bad - this "patriotism" appeared more like a mental disorder and asked if this was commonplace. The reply came back... roughly... that these are a wide range of "views" in the US and don't take it to mean that all US folks are as stupid as they sometimes appear. Also that elements who have military connections or who have served, may be more prone to "idealism" in this area. (This guy did actually serve - if my memory serves me on your "service" - he did a damned site more than you!). But, bottom line... he also thought you were a nut and most likely a "wannabe something".... I kinda agree with him after having read your crap King :glugglug |

Stop your fucking crying you pussies!
If you were robbed, beaten or injured. You would pick the phone up and call then police and you wouldn't be happy until someone was held accountable. Regardless if you deserved it or not. |

Seriously - we may disagree on most shit, but we all have "views" and I do listen hard :-) Would make for a heated debate sometime over a few bottles!! :thumbsup Gotta go and do some shit! |
A few people have said this should have never happened in front of his kids. It horrible that his kids saw this happen and blah blah blah.
Events don't occur or not occur based on who's a witness. The Police had very specific instructions based on the welfare of the community: Don't let anybody into the DISASTER zone - its dangerous. Someone tried to circumvent those instructions and the police had to put a stop to it. However, Police do not have the luxury of determing who witnesses the enforcement. You can't tell people, "Well I would arresst you, but since so-and-so is here I guess I'll have to let it slide." People also seem to say that the punishment didn't fit the crime - it was just a guy trying to go home. How can we tell the police officers to enforce only some instructions? Its not up to that cop to determine wheter he should let the guy go. Our tax dollars pay him to enforce our rules. Collectively we determined its not safe for a human body to go rushing back into a disaster area immediately after a hurrince. So we tell police to stop people from entering those zones and they have to follow that command. We have lots of laws that get people in deep shit, but that doesn't mean the cops were dicks for enforcing them. |

Unless you have access to the full reports of the incident, it is easy for the Press to present a story that may appear "contentious". On the other hand, this shows what appears to be a total inabilty of some officer/s to "relate" in a situation and "manage" this. The use of any "weapons" is absurd and too convenient. It is also understandable the "perp" may be "perturbed" - if he commits "public order" offenses, he needs to be arrested. But there is a balanced judgement level somewhere that calls for "a quiet word and explanation that this is for his own good". If that fails - it's a "this is how it is" and he is in line for an arrest. At the end of the day... it's a matter of judgement with the officers on the ground - a lot relies on their judgement. They got a load of shit on their plate - and so have some folks affected by this storm. Gotta go!! |
