Common Scam
Adult content Web sites have been the subject of more than one investigation by the FTC for illegally charging consumer credit cards. Indeed, the agency puts fraudulent Internet porn credit-card scams as No. 4 on its list of "Top 10 Dot-Cons." Porn credit-card "cramming" targets the Web surfer who gives an adult site his or her credit card number because the site says it needs the number to verify that the visitor is of age. After obtaining the credit card data, the porn site starts billing the credit card without authorization. Great Publicity, the way it's worded leaves the reader with the impression that we are all doing it. ------------------ wiZd0m Fortune Pussy Adult Links |

Simple. Free trials make more money to both the sponsor and affiliate.

Well this brings up an important question I think...
If the website has to give notification before a rebill... Does that mean you give the notification and then rebill right away? Or is there a specified amount of time between the notice and the rebill...? Are there other industries that have already set legal precedence for this? We aren't the only industry rebilling customers. Worst case scenario: what if they take it a step further and require a response from the customer before a rebill can be processed -- if that was the case -- that would mean a HUGE reduction in revenue for all of us...! I doubt that would happen though... ------------------ -- TheFLY.net/pete.jpg |

Real money is in renewals. Mostly 'cause people are getting used to their membership. If they have to take action to renew I'm pretty sure income will drop. But with all the scams that are pulled lately I am not one big surprised FTC comes up with these kinds of things. Some people try to abuse it and take their income one step further, then there's legal action and a paranoia surfer croud which takes everybody's income three steps back...

That would hurt renewals. If something like that did happen, then we'd have to raise a stink and get them to look at other rebilling industries, like, oh...frickin' credit card companies. You know those travel clubs, and credit protection things, and whatever else they can come up with. "Free for 30 days and it'll be a pain in the ass to cancel!"

You know i've just started responding to messges, but have not properly introduced myself...well I'm Me!
Anyhow, the way I see it, If an adult site is good, then people will sign up for it AND also renew their membership, I think too many sites rely on customers forgetting to cancel to make a quick buck. Also I think that the owners of those web sites - I'm talking about the CEO and CFO should have faced criminal charges, the industry we operate in has a difficult enough time without scum like that making it worse... Thats's all from the top..oh by the way are we allowed to provide a plug for our websites? ------------------ www.sexmetv.com |
