Weird Hoting Problems, WTF.

Look at this e-mail i got today from my host, (a reseller of theplanet). I wont give the name of the host. But every thing sounds a bit fishy. Seem some on inside the company started contaction the coustomers and telling them to move...really weird..

Quote:
A little over a month ago we started losing some of our management clients. Wasn't a big deal as sometimes some go and more sign up. We had 5000 servers we were managing for people so it wasn't expected to be a problem. But it seems some staff members have been working overtime, in the last month someone or some people in this company have been working out deals with management clients to get them to leave us and go to other companies (yes we know which companies). When it came time for renewal most people never bothered to pay their bills or respond, others cancelled. Out of 5000 servers we were managing 30 days ago there are only about 600 left.

With no way to find out who has been doing this I've been forced to fire 90% of the local staff, only the long time friends and trusted core staff remain at this time. This is the reason for a lot of the delays around here and for this you have my sincerest apologies.

Unfortunately this has also created another problem. Due to the sudden loss of about $400,000 income from these clients that decided to go elsewhere to save a few bucks and others still with overdue payments it's creating a financial bind. Luckily we have credit etc but I obviously cannot use it all up and let things slide. I've covered most expenses already however there are a few other things that need to be taken care of. Since the management clients have been reduced and so has the staff that saves a lot of our future expenses but I want to make sure we can still cover everything.

Here's where you all can help.

For the next few months I'll need to suspend all buy one get one free contracts. At this time if you could all make one months payment we can avoid any problems. Continueing to pay monthly for the next 2-3 months will also allow us to build up a decent profit margin where we can then honour the buy one get one free contracts while avoiding any financial issues. All accounts will be credited with the extra time, plus a bit more for your help in resolving this matter. I've worked hard the last 2 years to build this company and I'd hate to see it come crashing down on my head just when we were finally starting to get somewhere.

I'd also like to hire a few more new staff and get responses and resolutions to problems back to the lightening fast speed they used to be.

At this point we need at least a few thousand tonight to avoid any service issues and to resolve the cpanel issues on some servers (my apologies to those with cpanel license problems as well, I thought I'd paid all those bills but it seems a few were buried a half dozen pages back and I wasn't aware of it). After that we have a little time but will still need funds coming in to make sure we stay within the lines of our financing. If even half of you can pay one month on your servers this will not only cover these needs but pay off all outstanding bills completely and build up a decent profit margin in short order for us to keep going and improve things. It will also allow us to take care of all upgrades etc that are outstanding, although we initially paid for them to the suppliers it seems nobody there has a record of it so we'll need to pay for them again for now to get them taken care of quickly. We can look up the old paypal receipts for that later.

Thank you all for your time and understanding and I look forward to hearing from you all. For those that don't have it my email is [email protected], and the paypal email is [email protected]

Sincerely,

xxxxxxx xxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxx

Sounds like a Crock O' Shit to me. Just trying to cover up financial problems with a lame excuse.

If a company fired 90% of their staff because of a couple suspected theives in the work force they would have a lot of lawsuits on their hands.

*COUGH* BULLSHIT!!!!!!

They will take your money and close shop

Impossible to go from 5000 -> 600 in 1 month

CEO is a retard if he can't lookup paypal payment to verify payment for upgrades

Y? Cuz he's going to use your money to pay, YEAH RIGHT he will keep it for himself, it sounded good initially like they really were in a bind, but as you read on there are clues that this guy is planning something bad. Otherwise he would not make decisions and moves like he's outlining.

I would never pay 2x for an upgrade that I paid for especially if I'm in financial problems, wtf!?

With 5000 servers you wouldn't be a cheap ass reseller but own at least a part of a data center (a normal data center has space for 10.000-20.000 servers).

A hoster that big has an automated payment system and their prices and service would have to be pretty bad that one of their staff members would be able to get the people to another hoster without even one customer calling the service hotline and telling another staff member whats going on.If you can operate without 90% of the staff why couldn't you do that before (beside a few service guys so the answers are getting quicker)?

Every serious business keeps track records.Nobody knows who paid and who didn't situations don't exist in a normal business. Also no big company takes PayPal payments because their fees are just too high for mainstream.

I guess the offers were too good and it's a one man company with an owner who couldn't do the math (host now pay in a few months, one time hosting fee or similiar).

Only about 20 hosting companies have 5000+ servers it's a crock.

But you can only blam your self for not seeing the signs they are always there if you look hard enough.

I will pay you $5 to tell

The host didnt say they had 5000 SERVERS, you guys need to read.

They had 5000 management clients. Which means a person with an UNMANAGED server, hired an outside firm to manage it FOR them.

Trust me...knowing a thing or two about hosting...
Companies with 5000 servers just dont loose 4400 clients and management not knowing about it...

When you get into the 5000+ server range... your fucking huge.
You would know. In fact everyone would know.

This is complete bullshit. Sounds like kids playing games...

Now... will you reveal the name of this so-called hosting company?

"We had 5000 servers we were managing ......."

"Out of 5000 servers we were managing 30 days ago there are only about 600 left"

GUYS, theres a differance between being the host of 5000 servers, and just MANAGING them.

You guys clearly dont see the differance, but you dont have the knowledge of the hosting industry to.

The point is, it IS possible for something like that to happen - whether or not it ACTUALLY happened, is a differant question.
