Here's what the treating doctor for his first wound said when interviewed:

I have a very clear memory of an incident which occurred while I was the Medical Officer at Naval Support Facility, Cam Ranh Bay. John Kerry was a (jg), the OinC or skipper of a Swift boat, newly arrived in Vietnam. On the night of December 2, he was on patrol north of Cam Ranh, up near Nha Trang area. The next day he came to sick bay, the medical facility, for treatment of a wound that had occurred that night.

The story he told was different from what his crewmen had to say about that night. According to Kerry, they had been engaged in a fire fight, receiving small arms fire from on shore. He said that his injury resulted from this enemy action.

Some of his crew confided that they did not receive any fire from shore, but that Kerry had fired a mortar round at close range to some rocks on shore. The crewman thought that the injury was caused by a fragment ricocheting from that mortar round when it struck the rocks.

That seemed to fit the injury which I treated.

What I saw was a small piece of metal sticking very superficially in the skin of Kerry's arm. The metal fragment measured about 1 cm. in length and was about 2 or 3 mm in diameter. It certainly did not look like a round from a rifle.

I simply removed the piece of metal by lifting it out of the skin with forceps. I doubt that it penetrated more than 3 or 4 mm. It did not require probing to find it, did not require any anesthesia to remove it, and did not require any sutures to close the wound.

The wound was covered with a bandaid.

No other injuries were reported and I do not recall that there was any reported damage to the boat.

he slept and ate and partied with the offcers. Sure they knew him and knew him well.

Don't think the the only men that knew him where on that one boat, because that is pure bullshit.

Just I was in the Army and served with many men. I knew most of the men in my company and it was in the hundreds.

I can recall in detials what went on in my unit and it was 35 plus years ago. Can still remember what people looked like and most of there names.

I didn't equate its authenticity with the books ranking, just corroborating the intial post that yes there were some of Kerry's fellow soldiers who tell a different story than his.

I can't believe how Americans believe any bullshit they see on TV. Every major newspaper had said none of these guys served with Kerry. Almost all of Kerry's crew members support him. As for the doctor who is claiming to remember a minor wound in the middle of a war, his name doesn't appear on any of Kerry's medical records. All these guys are big GOP supporters, one of the authors was hired in 71 by Nixon to come up with dirt on Kerry. The other author has been caught making insane racists anti Christian comments on message boards. All this has been in the NYT.

Please people, think for yourselves. Do a little research instead of believing some nutcase on his word. It's bullshit.

well then, it's a shame that we even HAVE to resort to research when it comes to very important political events like this. there needs to be much more strict TV regulations, they should get sued for producing false information.

Yes I agree.

It's all semantics, they're smart enough to not say things outright. Most people assume they must be telling the truth because they media doesn't question this kind of shit nearly enough. They'll say the guys served with John Kerry, not that they served on the same boat with him, that kind of shit. They were in Vietnam at the same time as Kerry, so they can't get sued for saying they served with him.

Like John Stuart said, they served with John Kerry just like Snoopy served with the red baron.

What difference does it make really? He wasn't supposed to see a doctor because he has a medical degree and should have probed around in there himself?
