Customized AOL Screennames that reflect our domain names
Hi folks,
Is anyone here familiar with AIM @Work? According to: http://www.aimatwork.com/identity/ one would be able to register AOL Instant Messenger screen names like: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] etc. that reflect our domain names. For vanity, that would be great, instead of being Hank686832, etc., as most of the good screen names are already taken. I've been doing some research, and it seems that the only way to get these vanity screen names is through a reseller, and the cheapest I found so far is $20/month, per "seat". I was thinking if we got a large enough group together, we could get volume pricing. If anyone is interested in going in together, please post here, or let me know via e-mail to [email protected], and I'll see whether the resellers would be interested in going lower on price. They also offer features like IM archiving/logging, etc., but I think for most people here it's the vanity screen names that would be appealing.

For some of the companies here, they could have consistent branding for their customer service people, too...e.g. [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] which helps reinforce one's brand, and just looks cool. :D

As followup, I spoke with one of the resellers said they might have a cheaper solution in September/October, so I'll wait and see. AOL could earn some easy money if they permitted direct registrations of domain-branded screen names.
